silkolene pro S 10-40 - not the 10-50 as this is too thick.

i used to run religiously mobil1 motorsport 15-50 - and had HOT pressure issues with the lamp coming on at idle. chaned to silkolene pro s 10-40 as per oilmans reccomendation and it made such a difference, quieter, freeer revving and ironically better HOT oil pressure than the thicker castrol oil.

It depends on YOUR engine and mileage wear etc.
A 10W40 would be fine for a nice newish engine, but in a engine with a little wear it will drink it big time, hence I use 5W50, but got some 60weight to go in now!!

hmmm, i found that keeping the level half way inbetween full and empty on the dip stick minmised consumption - also using the silkolene uned less over 12 months than the castrol - doing the same milage.

I use the Silkolene ProS10w50 and personally wouldn't use anything else.

In tests carried out by Rod in his 200mph car, it was the ONLY oil that did not drastically degrade out of the ones he tested. So if it's shear stability is acceptible in a 800bhp car, it's going to be okay in anything below that .
