Default side exit exhaust

im thinking of makeing a side exit exhaust for a college project but im trying to find out what the legal requirements are.
does any one now what they are or has any good links

There are no fixed noise limits IIRC. Its all down to individual policemen and MOT man's views on noise.

There is a difference between it being road worthy (pass an MOT) and legal (in the eyes of the law)

Cats will depend on the age of the car you are making it for and how friendly your MOT man is.

Emissions is based on the year of the engine, not the year of the car.

or year of car if put a different engine in it ,ive got a 2003 engine in a 1990 car with no cat!and passed the mot like that.

I think they have to exit on the offside too. Got told that years ago but could very well be very wrong lol

i got told abbout them exiting the offside but if you think abbout it theres the ac cobra some of the tvr's segaris ect they have them on both sides i know the tvr has them in the back bumper but its still a side exit
