need to remove this info bar from ie and the today screen from msm when starting up?

To remove the info bar right click it and un-tick the menu bar option.

Mines 10", that 1" makes all the difference.

you can press F11 to toggle "full screen mode" too, which should help

For the 2nd one, go to tools then options, then click general, then untick the 4th one down
