Making cossies reliable
Please discuss on making them as reliable as can be.
I have bought.
MSD chip
Siemens blacks.
Stack afr wideband gauge.
Ryan loom.
GrpA coil.
Alloy rad.
Pro alloy intercooler.
Secs monitor.
Car has oil pressure gauge fitted.
Boost gauge.
Head is being skimmed , new valve stem seals ect.
Silicone water & boost hoses.
Every new engine sensor & leads.
Bosh 044 pump.
What else other than above will make the car be decent i really dont want to be plauged by little annoying probs & would rather do them all just now.
Whats next?
Fuel pump rewire loom & fan rewire loom? how easy are these to fit?

I'm not really that up on cossies but I would imagine replacing all the sensors and consumables and stuff on it so that you know everything is tip top would be your best starting point.

Surely not fucking with them would be a good start?
I'm sure Ford wouldnt have sold an 'unreliable' car on purpose. (certainly no worse than any other in their range).
Replace what needs replacing due to wear and tear and drive them as intended.

Dunkeith its a 18 year old car thats been modified like most of them so not fucking with them isnt a option & if it was standard i wouldnt want it.
The question is in this day in age what makes them decent instead of just putting a chip in & turning the boost up.

NICE work Carlo!
do it once, do it right!
Go L8 and coilpacks as well mate. It sounds like the little engine in the Westy!
NOTHING special spec wise, but all good new parts used.

yes there is, mine was faultless, granted i didnt have it for years, but i did what carlo did, replaced all the parts that would possibly make it unreliable.

ive had my saff cossie 4x4 for 2n a half years now. The first year it was a nightmare, everytime i went out in it it was cutting out. If past year n a half its been spot on. It used to cough n fart every now and then but ive sorted that. Ive just kept on maintaining my cossie. All ive done to it is serviced it 3 times do the timing belt/tensioner plugs/plug leads. Water temp sensor phase sensor, dizzy cap and a group A coil. Ive been all over in it this year and its never missed a beat.

I will read that when i get home stu my work filter blocked the link.
As for going l8 i already bought a chip from stu & got the loom made for l6 i know its a easy fix but not a cheap one by the time i buy the ecu , new chip, board ect.So l6 will be fine its not a every day car & never will be so wont be caring about closed loop for fuel econemy.
Maybe one day i will come across a l8 ecu with stu chip thats suits my car & i will change it then.

Clutch, gearbox, Diffs etc all depending on power.
I think the best way to keep it reliable is to use it, as soon as they sit, they start having little problems

TBH who's says there un-reliable?? i've had mine 5 years with absolutely no issues its done about 20k in this time, only things i done are upgrades and general wear & tear
pretty sure its down to how you drive it, if you drive it like a c*nt it will break, look after it, and it will last

i even had a new engine lol
i replaced everything with new or decent parts and fully refurbed the lot
i will have another but ive had ford all my life so time to move on
if everything is working fine on them they are a great car but it only takes something small to mess it all up i find
unless you get the rite car
