Has it been doing this since you've had the car or has it just started to do it?
Sounds like someone's bridged the relay so it's constantly working.

It shouldn't be on constantly & I've never heard of it being written into the chip before (I may be wrong but I've never heard of it) so imo the relay's fooked so someones bridged it to work.
Best to check it out & replace the relay if need be or you could burn out the pump.

definitely sounds like someone has bridged to relay due to it being knackered (or the relay is stuck on)
if you cant trace it it shouldn't cause any problems though as when the engine is running the pump is constantly on anyway , the regulator will just allow the fuel back to the tank when the engine is not running , best to try to fix it though

I cant honestly see it being the relay. Cos the feed to the relay is (as far as I know) is constant 12v i.e. straight from fuse box/battery & isn't an ignition feed 12v, so if someone bridged the relay out or it's stuck on the pump would be runnin 24/7, not jus wit the ignition on.
Check connections on your ecu & if it's got one of the chip's hangin out the side of it make sure it's in & secure.
Good luck

Its not a good idea to have it like this, I cant see it being wrote into the chip, i'd say Relay..
