well...i havent been on here very long but i though i would tell the story of my cars MOT story..!!

i drive a shitty 106 and it was due its MOT recently. having brought the car off my uncle, i thought best for him to have a look at the advisorys mentioned on the last MOT - plus i really dont know that much about my car!! (give me an si and i would know what to do - my bf owns one and i have to forever watch him change numerous bits and pieces!!)

well for starters my handbrake is poor and my breaks are really soft too, not good. recently i had noticed a new ratteling sound and thinking nothing of it cept the exhaust. my uncle took off the cambelt cover and what a fucking shock we got!! the tension had come loose and it had bent one of the bolts holding on the water pump - that was the new sound!! not only that was the cam belt right on the fucking edge - i know they are usually near the edge, but this was too fucking close. and where it had moved, the cam belt had been rubbing against some bit of metal and was wearing away the rubber from one side. there was so much black rubber everywhere it was unbelievable.
i would have been fucked if it had come off or snapped, cause im off to uni soon so i wont have no fucking money to buy a new car!!
oh and the rear suspension is rusty and the chassis leg too!!

damn car!! but i hate not having it as i have to rely on everyone else to take me / pick me up

still hasnt gone in for its MOT yet...lol!! too much work for my poor uncle to do!! but hes a lifesaver!!

I mot'd my sister in laws 106 which I bought her a year ago. I had to replace the complete braking system, everything was pish, and fooking loads of other stuff. I bought it all new from the motor factors and it somehow managed to be cheaper than a dizzy cap and a set of leads for my MR2

MAdness.

Wow that was lucky !!!

Maybe your uncles fault tho for not servicing it properly in the past, mention that to him and tell him he should foot half the bill
