essex 3.1 v6 in mk1 escort?
anyone had one of these engines fitted? im going to view one in the week, if a good reasonably solid project then im wondering how they pull and what they handle like with the big lump? i think cossie is the route down the line though

was the done thing back in the day, good straight line speed(for its day) but killed the handling, engine was just to heavy, bit of modern tech might be able to overcome this i suppose

how much power will you be hoping for.....imo...that would be the deciding factor on the engine choice.
for me....cosworth all day long.
just as easy to put in as any other engine replacement.

leave it in as you'll only crash it anyway and the extra weight will mean it'll understeer for a few seconds longer before you lose it
else i'd say slap a 2.9 cosworth v6 in as they cost PEANUTS and are 200bhp.
yeah a YB is the "proper" conversion, but in the meantime a 200quid 200bhp engine will do the trick

I'm sorry but the essex will just be a heavy old slug, if its a solid shell buy it and make a buck or yb or pinto it. IMO

i really dont plan on crashing, there will be alot of practice to be had and many tyres to go through getting there
, cossie just seems cool as a project only thing im unsure of atm is the 5 linking thingy

wouldnt bother with anything but a cossie lump,,, just cause its the best engine, cheep as fuck to do for the actual value after its done
down side to the mk1 mk2 escorts is the wanky dash
dave think you now have a GOOD reason to fit a escos dash in a mk2 now,,,,, just to solve that issue
a 2.9 would be the other choice but its slow as fuck,,, and got HUGE lag attatched,,,,, cause it wont ever come on boost

Ginge,
i have got a stack dash...similar to Mike R's for the next escort cosworth...or it might go in the mk.2.
whatever i decide there will be an after market dash in the mk.2,stack probably.
