there will be a feed in and out
there will be a trigger power and an earth
the one in the middle should send the trigger power to another source
the little one oin the corner i have no idea of

i've got one almost the same in the car, but it's dark out

also, the is a specific way that you can tell which is which due to the pin locations and orientation, so don't get it wrong

Thats what i'm trying to figure out, looks very similar to a vw/audi wiper relay, but still cant find any pin layouts.
Its being used with a focus stalk and wiper motor, soon as I get this done and stick a flasher unit and a couple of diodes in the flasher circuit, its done and we can go drive it

this probably has built in timers using a capacitor. do you just want a simple on off action for your wiper?

These are old markings now superceeded.
1 is wiper motor input + now 53 and 53e
2 is wiper brake winding now 53e
4 is wiper +, self parking switch off/also shunt winding now 53a 53b
5 is ODD are you sure it is not an "S" as it would tie in correctly and be now 49a and 53 which is (turn flasher) nb they use dual marking on some units so it saves on numbers/letters, or (as in this case) wiper motor input +
I don't have the others to hand but if you do a search of DIN 72 552 you will find the complete list, I have the manual but tucked away in garage at the mo.

Its definitely a 5. I've been looking at some wiring diagrams today and it looks the same as whats fitted to a 98 VW Polo.
Still no closer to figuring out how to make it work with a focus stalk and motor though

The std focus wipers run through a central timer that's tied into the ecu and all kinds over overly complicated shit. I've got a succession of crap switch and motor diagrams if anyone can help me out?

I've only got this Hella relay to work with at the moment, but if anyone can suggest a different one that would work then feel free

Massive thanks to peeps who's posted so far, I've been ok with the loom so far, basically made it from scratch, but the wipers have flummoxed me

Sussed it (or got it sussed for me!)
1=Activation(?)
2=Engine output
4=mass(earth?)
5=stop
6=wiper
8=positive

Got an e-mail from Hella in Germany today with a diagram of sorts, got to try and draw a diagram to get it to work with the focus stalk and motor now.
Feel free to PM me if you can figure it out before I can

1=Input from Wiper switch
2=Output to wiper motor
4=Earth
5=stop {looks like some sort of feedback from the wiper motor, may not be needed}
6=To Washer motor AND from washer push button
8=Positive

It looks like this is just for wash wipe not for normal use of wipers, is that what you want it for.

Looking back at your earlier post, you're trying to replace the Focus timer unit?

My Mk1 is working without a Focus ECU attached, does yours have the later GEM unit?

.

There was a GEM unit, but there was was nowhere to put the std fusebox etc, so i've re-made the entire loom. Absolute PITA to do but it fits and looks a lot better

take it 5 will be the park then?

Just looking at TIS, no wonder Ford are going bust with all that wiring in and out of a GEM unit just to get a timed pulse.
