Default Another train crash this morning

this time a freight train carrying what is believed to be ballast.

down south again, signaller wrong routed it off the main line into a short siding, the loco ploughed straight thru buffer-stops into staionary rolling stock causing extensive damage

fortunately no-one was injured at all.

they say bad accidents happen in 3's - when's the next one?

The Hatfield train crash was only a hundred yards or so along from my old office. It made a very unpleasant noise from what people said that were in the building at the time.

There was actually a documentory on a few days ago about the railways and undercover reporters were put onto the tracks and the state of some of these lines was seriously worrying.

i'd start using the train up oldham m8 - if enough passangers arn't using the train soon, then the metrolink plan will be re-instated i hear - the railway is only still open to rochdale via oldham due to the lack of support for metrolink

Public transport is for loosers anyway!!!! Stinking pissed-up jobsworths. Either that or commuters who pay double for a train so crowded you can't even stand let alone sit!!

the safest form of transport is infact aircraft there are far less deaths per KM travelled by about 5 times anything else And being an aircraft engineer the amount of safty systems built into the things and the care taken when working on them would be very useful if some of the fat cat wankers at rail-track cared about saftey rarther than gettin there bonuses
so if you want to stay safe fly to work

i work for network rail in track maintenance and that programme was laughable to the experienced....we had a letter 2 weeks ago regarding the airing of this programme and watched to see what it was all about....what a load of crap and it goes to show what a couple of inexperienced idiots can do to make things look bad and scare the public...the part where they showed 14 spikes(clips) which hold the rail down slightly loose by sliding a credit card under them was laughable as this style of track fixing is at least 30 years old so it hasnt done to bad at keeping the rail in place and will do for years to come.....the undercover men also deliberately failed the test to expose the help they got from the tester, but at the end of the day they are new starters and only need to be labourers and not brain surgeons.....the credit card fraud also is not acceptable but has nothing to do with the safety side of the railway....what you will find is that there is a lot of bravado between the workers as with lots of manual jobs, but when it comes to safety, they take the job seriously
