Sold my birds bmw yesterday and the twat who bought it fookin hell id have decked the twat if it was my car. Think he spent his life looking for BMW faults on the internet and tried everything to ensure us he was right and the local BMW dealers was wrong.claimed he had driven so many before hers.............but didnt no how to move the seat or mirrors then road the fookin clutch in every gear
Typical knob who thinks that buying a BMW makes him the dog bollocks.

Couple of year back i had a guy come up from London to Mancland to look at a car i was selling. While agreeing a price he then slips in how much i should knock off for HIS travel expenses. Never seen anyone get off our sreet so fast when i foooked him right off

I went with a m8 to view a RST and after a quick inspection it was easy to see it had more holes in it than a sponge, but rather than just saying "Sorry its not quite what im looking for" or something along those lines, my m8 starts telling the owner what the fuck is wrong with his car I just wanted to disappear at that point
I must say tho i would be same as rick, i would want to see everything.

gotta be careful as said above cos some people will sell you an utter piece of sh*t if you aint got your head screwed on,,
taking a jack & axle stands just means you aint gonna let your hard earned money go without making sure of what your buying 1st & the seller should respect that fact cos im sure they'd do the same

Don't worry about it mate, if I had a pound for every tosser thats come round here, I'd have at least Ł3.40.
The best way to deal with people like that is to say "You can't tell me anything about the condition of this car that I don't already know, if it's technical stuff, I don't understand it anyway so I'm going to put my fingers in my ears and sing LALALALALA"
Also, for those of you that bring along jacks and what not good for you! ESPECIALLY if your buying an older car I've got no problem with people checking cars over AS LONG as its done by the person buying it OR a QUALIFIED mechanic OR the AA/RAC. not some uncle that once owned one etc.
As for test drives, it's harder to do when you're selling privately, but try and pre-close them like "If it drives ok, are you going to buy it?"
Get this commitment from them and if they say yes, you can normally get a deposit off them and you KNOW they're serious about buying
If they say no, then refuse a test drive and tell them to try a few others, so they know what they're like, before they come back and buy yours
As for dealing with tossers in general, I normally start talking sh!t about my morris dancing club and they soon fook off. I don;t know why though because some of my stories are fascinating.
Seriously though, if any one wants a hand selling or buying a car, give me a shout

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I think its fair though allowing someone who owns one have a look, my friend bought one last year and on the outside it seemed pretty good and to be honest if he had paid a grand less it would have been a fair deal, however he rushed off to go see it and wouldnt wait till my day off and bought it there and then. Now im not to hot with mechanics however generally i know what should be where on an rst and i esspecially know alll the little rot spots and irritating faults that start costin money. Now it has a rotten bootlid, rust at the top of the door skin, the bonnet is bubblin and a few specs have come on the sunroof, all of which would have been good bargaining features had they have been spotted
