F*cking Insurance...
Well I am never going to claim on my insurance again...
Non fault accident, my wife was waiting at a Zebra Crossing and a motorbike went in to the back of her destroying the bumper, oh and rode off, anyways he got caught, so we went through the insurance, claimed for the bumper, cost £258 to repair but I had £200 excess, and now my insurance is £100 dearer because I have made a claim even though I have protected no claims...its a total joke and rip off....
Ah well rant over...
Anyone else had similar experinces?

Did the biker not have insurance then i assume?
Thing is though, even if he didnt have insurance how come you didnt just pay for the repairs yourself? People only usually do this when they know costs will be recovered by the third party, especially with you only 'saving' 50 odd quid and actually losing out in the long run due to an increased premium.
It is shit that the insurance still goes up with protected NCD though, but thats what happens and many people are unaware of this. In the insurance companies eyes, you are a now a higher risk as youve had a claim, whether it be fault or non-fault, if theyve paid out, then your a higher risk for them.

yes its correct; irrespective of fault; your premium always goes up
when you phone for insurance quote the will often ask "any claims in th last 3 years irrespective of blame"
my neighbour reversed into my old mondeo in 2006; i wasnt even in the car and my premium went up
although; blessing in disguise as the car was worth about £300 and i got paid out by cheque for £482, then sold the car for £400 with the smash in the bumper...result!

There's a lot of bullshit here, I have been rear ended 5 times in 9 years, all non fault, all NO EXTRA MONEY TO PAY ON PREMIUM, the reason is simple, your insurer can ONLY load your premium where they cannot recover losses from third party.
The fact is they CHOOSE not to, this is not IN LAW a reason to load you.
All insurers will try to do a knock for knock at this kind of price, as litigation can run into several thousand pounds, so cheaper to do knock for knock.
However they can only do this with your permission, DON'T give it, you then force thier hand to either (a) forget the claim against the guilty party, (b) pursue the guilty party, neither one of which can load your insurance.
All insurers will fill your head full of crap, I once had the disticnt pleasure of sueing the MIB,(the body that pays out where person was uninsured) in Bury St. Edmunds county court, over £12K was won, but took 3 years to get them there.
I would contact roosie, who can put you onto a awsome solicitor, I've never know them as good as these.
I have pm'd you his number in case you want to, they will deal with the lot, without you doing a thing.

Be careful, my insurance company reversed the claim onto my own insurance for my accident, again not my fault. Was only when asseser said you need to pay your excess i said no way, im claiming on the other parties. It then turned out they switched the claim. Personnaly i think they do it so they can then charge you the excess and up your premium!!!
