I was selling a set of wheels for my sister's bloke on eBay buy it now auction, someone bought last night and supposedly paid by paypal even tho i said cash on collection, the funds haven't gone into my paypal account, i even rang paypal and they confirmed no funds have gone into my account even though according to ebay he's paid?!

I have emailed the buyer twice but had no reply

im pretty sure you can cancel a payment but for 4ks sake dont refund payment,its all to easy to mark as payment sent when you are the buyer and you are going pay with say cash on coll or cheque.even if they have paid you wont be giving them a refund they just need to cancel payment their end.

Nope not e cheque, he hasn't paid at all even paypal confirmed when i rang them, he hasn't replied to my emails either? he has 72 feedback 100%

there a some scams where the buyer pays thru paypal and then at a later time says they havent received the goods - and paypal then take the money back for them. Paypal are always on the buyers side which is wrong - you can read stories on ebay from sellers who have sent the goods to thye buyer only to find that the funds have been "stolen" back by paypal ?? how wrong is that !! and why alot of folk now are not using paypal not onlt for charges but for this reason also... dont let the wheels go whatever til you know you have been paid. if cash on collection you wont get charged a percentage from the sale proceeds only the listing fee from ebay.....

you can unmark as payment not recived - do that - email the seller - if no response in 24 hours, fuck him off, and fuck ebay rules, just re-list it, if a buyer wants something they'll get in touch with you ASAP

Yeah that scam is so wrong! The wheels are for collection only so no saying he didn't recieve them and they wont be going until he pays cash.

I have unmarked payment recieved in ebay, but it says you have marked payment not recieved, tho payment was made via paypal on 08-09-08

where you marked paument unrecived, have a look there's a button "show order details" - it will give you the buyers name, address telephone number etc - try them.

look next to where his address is - it will tell you the payment type "Paypal" and the method, either "Instant" "echeque" etc...let us know what it says.

Had a look and all it says it Payment Details Paypal with the visa, meastro cards underneath?

in the same menu you saw the mark payment unrecived etc - there should be one that says "View Paypal Transaction" - if was dont through paypal legitemately it will link you to the full transaction history with detailed info on how he's paid.

if you have been payed by paypal you should recieve a confirmation email from them saying the money has been payed and you can decline the money or refuse to accept it

When i click "View Paypal Transaction" it takes me to the paypal page but then says "The transaction ID in your link is invalid"

I rang paypal yesterday, all they said was try to get in touch with the buyer, which i have done to no joy

as long as you flagged it they cna see your acting on it so you should be OK - give it a few days see what happens

I always thought if the Ł sign shows as bold then they have paid by paypal. If they mark it as payment sent themselves, then the shopping trolley comes up or the egg timer.

thats exactly right

if shopping trolly is lit up they completed the ebay checkout
if Ł is lit up they have paid with paypal
if you get an egg timer shaped icon - the buyer has marked as payment sent or total requested

Just recieved an email from the buyer, apperantly he has paid into an account the same email as mine but .com, mine is .co.uk, he says he cant retrieve payment back, i just gave him paypal's number so hopefully they can sort it

UH-OH!!! check your paypal details dude - make sure someone hasnt been in there and setup a variation of your email address to .com rather than .co.uk, very subtle, not something you'd notice.

Checked my paypal details and only my .co.uk email address is listed, i rang paypal and they said the buyer has to email who he sent payment to and ask him for a refund, if no joy then he has to file a dispute, just hope he gets it back.

Ebay or paypal have fucked up somewhere for this to happen in the first place.
