Default Roller bearing turbos. Pro's & Cons

As the title says what are the pro's and cons of roller bearing turbos. Are they reliable, is it true when they fail the internals end up in the engine and then fook the rest. Are they any quicker spooling up etc.. My T34 is on its last legs and need to know where to go next T38, T4, GT30, GT35 and so on. It will be put with 7.5cr, greys & cams. Cheers

You wont notice the difference in spool up between a non BB and BB turbo if all else is equal, even garrett quote the difference as somthing like 5%, and thats not 5% less engine RPM which you might notice, its 5% less time for the turbo to hit full speed, which is different, and no way noticable.

More modern turbos (ie GT series etc) are less laggy for their size than older turbos tho, BB or not, but its down to modern design rather than the BB core.

Depending what power you want, but if you want somthing that can give you similar to what the T34 could, just better, then one of the smaller GT30s would be a good plan i reckon.

ACTUALLY, from the "proper" Garrett GT range, the closest power wise to a T34 would be the GT2871R

But that fucker would probably almost boost from idle

You mated it with YB engine? Any fitting problems? I'm considering doing this and I would be happy with any info.

The car they first rested the GT28RS was this thing (a FWD 2litre nissan sold in america) thats a bit ugly n looks like a potato.

The disco bit comes from the flashy rims and mad chamelion (sp?) paint it was done in.

Was proper rapid tho, 12s from a std engined full interiored heavy FWD car if i remember right.
