Default Engine chips not brought from tuners.

If you buy one of these, say a stage 3 chip for my cossy, do you just plug it in attach the new injectors and away you go? Or do you not have to change the length of the actuator?

If what length do you make it? Say on a T3? Or would the length be the same on a T34?

confused

please dont take this the wrong way, is not intended as a put down but...

if you have to ask, then it's NOT a good idea to do this as a DIY job...

there are many factors which need to be taken into account, and everything needs to be checked afterwards. it sounds to me (correct me if i'm wrong) that you do not have the knowledge, experience, or equipment to do this.

in my opinion i think you'd be better off getting your wallet out and paying 80odd quid to have to done by a professional.

also the chips are different for a T3 and a T34, you need a chip specced to your engine... and this isn't just for aking optimal power, if you dont you can melt you (very expensive) engine

YOu just plug the chip in mate, If u need one for a Stage 3 give me a shout

But you have to put greens in, 31 Actuator etc on then the car needs to be setup just by fitting that and not alteringa anything wont do anything other then your motor will be all to pot

cheers jim, i thought that anyway, also thought it'd be better to have a tuner fit one of there chips as im sure they wouldn't wana set up someone else's chip and also i wouldn't get any kinda guarentee with it or after service care.

I have a little knowledge and have a little man with experiance (danny b)

i don't think that it's a case of 'if you have to ask, you shouldn't do it'

we all have to start somewhere, and to be honest there is nothing too difficult about it if you have the right equipment.

if you've bought the chip from a reputable tuner and have told them your engine spec (including compression ratio, turbo size) and they have sold you a chip with a map to suit, there's not much to do to get it set up (in theory).

all you do is fit the required MAP sensor, the correct injectors (that are either brand new or have been cleaned and flow tested if second hand), and then set the boost up using an accurate boost gauge (making sure that the boost control device, e.g. amal valve, is working correctly).

you should have additional equipment to check the fuelling, and to make sure that the fuel pressure and supply are up to the job, but not all 'tuners' will do this on a setup (although they should).

for the price of it, and the cost if it goes wrong, i would suggest getting it done professionally until you're more experienced (or until you can easily afford a new engine )

Pete give Collin's performance a call and tell them what spec your running(best off the shelf chips available IMO) then I'll fit it all ther parts ie actuator, 3 bar and injectors along with the chip then set up boost and fuelling for you.
