the later engine (BOB) is a c*nt to wire up, so noboy bothers.

the early one (BOA) drops straight in, get one of these

BOB is the best and a lot of parts can still be got from Ford. I had the the BOA until the big end went and changed it for the BOB. The only problem is the BOB ecu and loom can not be used as its a pats system. I used the BOA lom and ECU. It runs fine and put out a good 220bhp and 200ft/lb

both engines have totally different inlets and VE, i assume youre also talking about having the ECU/chip remapped, right?

the bob has more power,(215 bhp) v boa (195bhp)
the boa is easier to wire in(5 or 6 wires iirc)
and as johnny states above you can run the bob on the boa ecu and loom.
best of both really

2.8 is well off, it only has 2 exhaust ports per head

you use the BOA manifolds, one of them needs a bit of bending to fit a standard 2.9 exhaust system, no drama

There is no manifold for carbs on a 24V, you would need to make one.

Default Why carbs?

Why carbs? Why not throttle body fuel injection, such as a Jenvey setup?

If you do wish to run carbs, then perhaps you can use the Jenvey BOA/BOB inlet manifold (which can be purchased separately) and modify this to run bike carbs (i.e. with custom adaptor flanges). Not sure how easy this would be though, nor if there is sufficient space (between the ports and engine valley) to mount six bike carbs.
