The man speaks sense, listen to him.... You can make a shit car fast, but it will still be a shit fast car (No offence)

250 BHP with all the the right mods to hold it together and make the car drivable will be costing you 8-10k. You will sit there and add it up, and you will think it will be nowhere near that, but you WILL go over budget.

assuming the RST is worth 2-3k, you can buy a hell of a lot of car for 12k .

And FWD is shit... so don't bother

Heres a basic and shortened overview of what i have in my cabbie:

  • Standard head
  • Standard cam
  • Standard T3
  • ·Mongoose exhaust system
  • ·Pro Alloy large front mounted intercooler
  • ·K & N flat panel air filter
  • ·Ford Motorsport plugs
  • Group A Coil
  • Magnecor leads
  • Group A Cossie Pump
  • ·**cough*bleed valve**cough** lol
  • ·B & M Quickshift kit
  • ·S1 Rs Turbo Gearbox
  • ·AP Clutch - On its way to being replaced with a 4 paddle
  • ·Auto Specialists Tubular manifold

Its fun, reliable and i cain the granny out of it everywhere!! I have a HUGE weight disadvantage but it still makes me smile ALL the time when i'm out in her

All it costs me is the basic running costs..... I know as soon as i go over the 200bhp things will start falling off

Why not use a remapped focus RS engine? Better still, A Volvo T5 engine.

Look, lets put this topic to bed. Because thats where I want to be

1. It is possible to build a 300bhp RS Turbo, but for fuck's sake don't....
2. Whatever you think it's going to cost, add 2k to that. Then double it.
3. Buy another car to use for everything else other than doing power runs at rolling road days, because the RST will fall to bits if asked to do anything else.
4. No matter what you do/say/spend, it will be faster if Dingy blesses it first.

Glad we cleared that up. Lets all go and buy EVOs

Thats scary....

My first post was this...

3k pmsl.....

Then double it and add another 2k

But i thought i would just be a little more gental......

Also you need a gearbox, brakes, diff and suspension for it....so add 2-3k for all that to LOL....

Infact spend the 2-3k on the rest and screw the engine cause a 300bhp standard setup rst will end up in the wall or no gearbox LOL

Dingy, these are Fords. The standard box and suspension and brakes will obviously be fine.

The £3000 I mentioned was just for the engine and obviously did not include the turbo. intercooler and the other various bits. A 300bhp RS Turbo is easy to build providing you have the funds to do do. If you want to use it at more than rolling road days, then you need the budget to maintain it as well.

In my opinion Steven RW's RST was the best value for money, low budget built car that done the business and was reliable when he had it. 200@wheels and it done 150mph at brunters when other cars with massive budgets couldnt manage much more.

Mine currently sits at 260bhp proven and is a handfull. It achieves this power on a stage 2 Hybrod with .48 housing standard (although stress relieved rods) and a 5th injector.

I love it to bits and have been pricing up what it will cost to get it to 300bhp. I have to be honest and say I will be very unlikely to do it as I just can't justify that outlay on the car.

I would aim for a nice solid 220ish bhp as it's achievable and relatively cheap, easy and relaible.

300bhp just seems to be a buzz figure these days much like 200bhp was a few years ago. I would concern myself more with building a quick car and not worrying about how much power it's got. I mean if you aim for 300 and then get 290 are you going to take it apart and start again?
