Default mounting a cps

onto a box that doesn't have the hole for one?
can i just drill a hole and slot it in?
does it have to be in exactly the correct position? and not out by 1mm?
or can i get soemthing to mount it somewhere else?

Needs to be pretty precise, if your hole is out by 1mm it will read the TDC signals a mm sooner or a mm late. How many degrees out will that knock your timing? Can your management compensate for this? The gap between sensor and trigger is about 0.6mm too, so get it wrong and your car will misfire, not run, or end up with a CPS jammed in the flywheel - I'm assuming your flywheel has the marks for the CPS to read?

Oddkiddcreations.co.uk do trigger ring setups for cossie mgment & maybe others with brackets to mount the CPS to, but designed for a cvh. Have a look on his site and see what you can find?

ah

thanks for the info

it's the cps for the focus st thats mounted in the gearbox hole right at the top so i'm assuming that by moving the flywheel by x degrees i can mount the sensor that far around as well then?

maybe i should be looking at the more aftermarket kits then as i don't think there will be space in the tunnel for the mounting of the original bit in the first place

looking into it further, it seems that the cps position is determined by the block, as the cps bolts onto a bracket in the head and has a hole in the bellhousing just to make it look nice

looks like i'll just have to find a suitable bellhosuing to fi the block and then put a hoe in it
