a live map alone is Ł500 approx; but they'll need your car for about 5 days

not sure about the rest; try Stu at MSD

"If" You need a full live map then Ł500. If not, then it may b substantially cheaper. EG: Most cars up to 400bhp are absoluely fine with just a chip to suit your spec. our 350bhp P8 chip to peak at 2bar and hold 23psi on 803 is Ł150.

Closed loop is included in those prices if you still on P8 as all our P8 calibrations have it as standard.

Wasted spark with ecu wasted spark driver is Ł550 fitted.
Only Ł400 fitted if you dont use a driver and just switch it on in the P8, but then you may have to use aftermarket tach, but we have a good solution to try first that normaly works.

You want to seriously consider a aftermarket ecu with shed loads more features as well, as opposed to the std stuff modded, depending on how far you want to go(extra facilities) you won't be limited by the ecu then, prices can be very good as well, especially with THREE maps costing Ł275(for all three, NOT each), if you don't want to do yourself which is easy for some.
I can give you then number of someone who could do the whole job, including if wanted a new loom, with all the extras added for a later date, he makes looms for some very special people using 44 wire and 52 wire, been doing it for around 30 years.

I would speak to karl at nms - No one better at doing the Level 8 LOL hey christian

and the wasted spark board for the level 8 is a bit pointless - doesn't fix the plug gap issue

I bet there are fifty people on this forum running it and nobody else has a problem bar you. Not that anyone will find that unusual.

Jim,

best off telling us what you think he means as cryptic messages such as yours rarely work on here.

i suspect he's blaming a coilpack driver for not providing a strong enough spark and he's having to run a smaller plug gap than he'd like.

am i right?

Jim,

thats what he seems to be saying mate. Everyone i know with coil packs, do run a larger gap than you would noramlly use when the standard dizzy and single coil is in use. So im not sure why Dingy is having issues

PLug gap to stop top end missfire is less with the coil packs than with the grp a coil.

So it doesn't fix the issue IMHO

And as stu hates me then he will always have a go -

What version boards were they? Were they the very early ones? Were they upgraded to the later software?

We sell between 5 and 10 a week mate and have done for years, and nobody complains about spark gap. We regularly run GT30s at 0.75mm gap mate. (Although no real benefits on a YB after o.7mm)

If you want bigger than that then you need to go to coil on plug as opposed to wasted spark.

P.S: I dont HATE you at all. In fact, i dont hate anyone in this world. Life's too short. If your software is old, i will upgrade it FOC as i did with all the older boards.

The theory it "Blows Out" is a little silly, i guess it was a term made to describe it easily but its certainly nothing to do with gale force winds. lol

The actual issue is that the more cylinder pressure we run, the more voltage is required at the spark plug center electrode in order to jump the gap in the hostile environment that is a combustion chamber. So its not actually *Boost* related as such, its actually more power related which is why it tends to happen at peak torque but because more power comes with more boost and bigger turbos you can easily see and understand why the mistake is made by many people.
