I've seen the car before, it was revealed on pistonheads months ago, nice from the factory certainly
That guy had his previous car detailed and it was stunning, agree with you on the new one, superb!

TBH he's probably killed the value of it longer term, and its not really to my taste, but it is all very nicely executed.
Gotta laugh at the amount of people totally gobsmacked by a bloke who did a basic install well and cleaned his car thoroughly, pages and pages of over the top arselick replies, I think his ring is probably even cleaner than his astra

WTF, then he drives it out the garage and it rains.
Ok i can see the reason for doing this to an old car thats been restored and your not going to use.
But tomorrow his wifes going to go shopping in it.
It would be like me rebuilding and engine then driving through the desert with no air filter on it. I couldn't justify all that work when you know it's pretty pointless.
Top motor though, just could do with a wash

I admire it, but at the same time think WTF, like when he clayed it because he found 2 specks in the paint that you can only see with a magnifying glass

arrrgggghhh i wish i had never started reading it now, this pillock winds me the fuck up!!
lots of up-close pictures later, showing the appalling <1mm blob.....
rejecting it.....!!!! What fucking planet does he live on, seriously!?
Now i then spotted a problem on the roof which i was really unhappy about...A small paint blob about half a mm in size but none the less its there probably a spit from the spray gun...
and after discussion we realised that without looking really hard it was not visible to the eye without knowing it was there so i accepted it as rejecting the car now would be difficult...

One of my friends did the same as this guy, in terms of selling her arden blue VXR for a Nurburgring one, i still to this day cannot understand why you'd pay the extra money for some awful graphics and carbon fibre bits, i think they look naff. My own personal opinion ofcourse.

the funny thing is rog, they are "carbon fibre effect" that's all - surely that's the tackiest of the tack!!?
I've now got to this bit:
WHAT. THE. FUCK. !!
I've now got to this bit:
Now this is was really upset about , although you couldnt see it as it was under carpet it was there.....I asked basil if it was possible to get to this after the ice install was done so i could get it resprayed over as it ruins the white...Absolute vandalism of my car when building...
WHAT. THE. FUCK. !!

Have I really just read a webpage about a guy who's detailed a BRAND NEW car?
W...T...F?
I really dont get it. Infact I find it so utterly ridiculous I'm worried my head may just explode with the sheer madness of it all.
Photgraphing the paint and detecting how thick it is to the nearest micron - I mean, who really does this?? Is it an elaborate windup?

I agree to a point that no one thought along those lines then, but times change, it's just how tuning and all other aspects have moved on, what we know now that we didn't then.

Yes but think of what the RS500 was designed for, and why there were only 500 produced, and the fact that it was a supercar slayer in its day (and still is with the right tweaks). An Astra with a sticker just isn't...

!!!!! That 3dr is one of my best mates old cars!!! It was concourse champion for many years, has won every trophy available on the RS calendar as far as i'm aware!
What a turn up for the books! I'll point him to the car, shame the bloke cunted the bonnet up underneath though with all that horrible bling! This is what it used to look like!
Can't find a close up of the engine bay though, although it was faultlessly clean and standard! Kevin somone built the car when it entered concours for the first time IIRC

I'd rather have this
Than an uber clean anal retentive weirdo washed 3 times a week Astra 'Nurburgring' edition..
Infact, I'd rather have ANY track car, battered to shit or not, than that Astra...
