Default Any sky installers on here?????

Got a bit of a problem with a new sky+ box I bought of e-bay.

The install was at my Dad's house who's had normal sky for years. I replaced the single lnb with a qaud (made sure not to move the dish) and ran a new cable to the new box. I then phoned sky to get it paired to the new box/set sky+ up and waited for it to connect.

The problem is that we just get the "there is no sattelite signal being recieved" message.(waited 6 hours for it to connect to be sure and tried again the following day)

I've spoke to sky and gone through all the tests and reset lnb etc.... and still cant get a signal with the new box. Test codes proved signal is strong. Both cables work fine with old sky box proving there ok.

I also tried the new box at our house on a currently working sky+ set-up and just got the same message.

The seller we bought it off is being a twat and saying it's the install at fault, but surely the old sky box wouldnt work if the install is at fault??

Sky want £60 to send an engineer out, but I'm worried all they'll say is its a faulty box, costing me more wedge to sort out.

Does it sound like a faulty box to you or am I missing something regarding the install?

Thank you please.

if there is no signal being recived but the signal lock etc is fine then send the box back

assuming you've got a signal on the old box?

send it back as the box is fucked

you can buy a new hd box for £150 now so the normal sky+ boxes will be half of that, even less if you can haggle with sky, plus you'll get the benifit of having a years warranty

reputable seller with thousands of positive feedback so I didnt think I'd have an issue.

Tossers ignoring e-mails now aswell. Might have to go through e-bay unfortunatly.
