the wankers why dont they word it properly, im gna call them and find out for deffinate!! as im a builder, i often use diggers and need to shift heavy stuff, and this is important to know!!!

So my landrover weighs in at 2.3 ton, and is plated to tow 3.5 ton (ps the only 4x4 that can legally pull 3.5)

So legally i can tow a trailer that weighs in at up to 1.2 tons right? or is that 1.2+750kg???
if you find out please let me know cuz my mom wants a horse trailer and doesnt know if she has to take a test or not

Thanks for all the input
He's still unsure what to get the unsure bastard lol.
I doubt a little speed boat will be more than 750kg's but I could be wrong as I know nothing about boats. My guess would be under 500kg's?
I doesn't matter if its diesel or petrol but diesel would be better im sure for pullling at low speed and lower insurance probably.
So autos no good for towing?
Thanks then

well like mine for a start. i reckon itt worth Ł2000 max with the 4 ton winch, strenghtened plated chassis, out riggers and hiab., ive seen many plain ones go for about 1k. even the td5's have droped like a stone in price, but whod want one of them! 300tdis way better.

Auctions mate, ex fleet like mine, EDF energy!

I just bought a mint 04 plate golf gt sport for Ł6400 ex met police. theyre still Ł9-10k on the dealer forcourt for that age n spec!!

I know where to find cars mate and am very aware of prices, it's what I do for a living

I was genuinely asking if you knew of a specific place to get Defenders for a grand, with the 300 tdi [Italian] engine in?? They didn't come with that engine until 1994 and I'm not into chopped up pieces of shit!

Just last week I sold a petrol 90 [1984], ex MOD [full spec, strengthened chassis, petrol tank under the seat etc.] for Ł1500 and that was a battered piece of shit

And yes, TD5s are a pretty crap engine! Petrol in the sump is a common problem.

The 300 tdi imo is the best engine pound for pound, which is why if you can find me defenders for a grand like you said, I will buy the lot!

from a technical point of view surely the sierra has the better box/ diffs for towing as the land rover has a open rear diff?

my land rover is an auto, love it, no probs towing and no worries of killing the clutch!
