Default Airbox vs Cone on a sapph?

I know this has been asked before, but i couldn't find a thread with a proper discussion on the two

I was just wondering if i should go from a cone back to an airbox on my car? In some ways i prefer the tidier look of an airbox to the cone.

Are there any disadvantages to going down the airbox route? I'd be looking an Escort Cossie one with an uprated panel filter. Also will an Escort one fit my 4x4 Sapph ok?

Any help would be great!

Airbox over Cone all day

Escos airbox fits and looks so much better, also means you can fit a T34 size hose

I have an RS 500 sized hose on my car, so i'll need to order one of Mike R's adaptors to make it fit.

Been looking on fleabay there for airboxes

I take it the escort one mounts ok into a sapph? Uses existing holes etc?

Ahhh i'm still undecided I'm being bullied by friends to keep the group a cone i have

I think if i come across a cheap airbox at national day, i'll buy it and try it, see what i think.

Neil - how much you looking for your box?

Just not the crappy ugly black plastic one though

Cone all the way IMHO, the noise tells me what the engine & turbo are doing, it's feedback.

I don't buy the "more horses with airbox" line as car is usually moving, so air is moving through engine compartment. Whatever. Anyway there's cones and cones, lots of different types of cone, some probably make less power than airbox, some probably make more.
