Default Oil cooler and hosing advice.

My good friend Jay had his car on track at FordFair and was seeing oil temps of upto 130 degrees c after 3 hard laps.
He now wants to fit an oil cooler, but we dont know what size and row cooler to go for, and what size hosing and fixtures will be needed. Pref aeroquip or stainless steel fixtures.

Also does anybody know if there is a separete machined fitting available that we could put into the oil cooler piping to give a take off for his oil temp and pressure gauges as they are in a pain in the ass place on his current sandwich plate.

The engine is a 1.7 frp engine which currently revs to 7k but will soon be raised up to 8k with the addition of more wild cams and TBs later in the year.

Thanks.

Tim and Jay.

You should be able to get a sandwich plate to go between the oil filter and the block.

Alternatively, you should be able to remote mount the oil filter and put the oil cooler in line.

www.thinkauto.co.uk should tell you most of what you need to know.

I paid 7quid earlier for a big oil cooler the size that would be at least 150quid if it was a Mocal/Setrab one.

It was from a Mitsu Shogun.

Scrapyard tuning at its best.

On the Sigma 1.6VCT engine they also use a modine now which fits straight onto the oil filter connection.
