Default Tuners.....

What tuners build/spec/map all there cars????

As these people can only really be deemed at the top of the tree.

The most important part of a build is the mapping...so if a tuner builds and or specs but then gets someone in to get the BHP (mapping) out of it surely there records should be shared with the people involved???

Just a thought as to do all of it and then break records..thats A PROPER MOTORSPORT PERSON

Point out an example of who you don't believe does then and I will back it up with evidence to support the fact that they DO . I only posted the people up that I could prove that do , so .

I think its important to use people who are experts in there own field.

I find it hard to believe that someone can truely be an expert in all the required fields and do the whole job start to finish on there own.

Just my opinion though.

Because Ahmed has more experience of Webber and all the dongles for Pectel. However, Harvey maps all the MBE, Omex, GEMs, T2, T6 and S8 ECUs himself - even Mark uses Ahmed when it comes to Webber , so .

Tony has the dongle for Pectel, so can map this live.

Stu does Webber etc, but doesn't have the dongle for Pectel equipped Webber.

I have seen Martin tweaking his own T6 map.

Karl mapped yours .

Anymore?

That pretty much sums that up then......................

Now theoretically, this post should be finished, but something tells me it's going to continue for a little while longer........

Hmmmm.... wonder why that might be?

No, but he had to set up all the boost map for air injectors, adjust the ignition map (which seems beyond YOU ), yet you feel that you are part of this exalted company from the post above .

I think your attempted diss has backfired, as you were obviously hoping to discredit at least two people from that list . Even I think you're a twat at times .

I think you will find Phil, that all of the above named tuners ARE extremely good at what they do. Some of them are better in some areas than others and vice versa, but we cannot all be equal in this world Phil as that would be boring!!!

Bottom line is they probably shit far more knowledge in a day than you actually know from a lifetime

I probably going to get loads of abuse now, but hey i'm having a bad day LOL

No diss to anyone at all...my point was not many can do everything themselves inc me.......and even i can tweak a base map

So not back fired at all...the point of this post was to find other multi tasked people that compete in record breaking....

Sorry Stu, I didn't mean to do you a dis-service, I thought from memory that you couldn't do Pectel stuff. Is it just the 8-injector Webber Pectel you don't do then?

To be an expert engine tuner, you must have a complete working knowledge of both engine building AND engine mapping i.e. you need to know how an engine actually works to be able to map them (or you will probably break the engine) and you need to know how to map an engine or all of your hard work building the engine will amount to nothing as it wont turn over because you don't know how to tell the injectors / ignition system to work.

Also, you need to know what these modifications to the engine will do to the rest of the car, what will a 200% increase in engine torque do to a complety standard gearbox / diff, will the car be able to stop as fast as it accelerates? All questions a good tuner will know the answers too, IMO

But Mike i wouldnt classify tweaking a base map as being a mapper or i would be classed as one too!....Its the person who could write a file from scratch who is the proper mapper!

Nicole...why shocked? I aint even in any of them tuners glass eyes

Unfortunately people have the misconception of my own self ability...which is very little knowledge but knows enuff to get by with a little help from his mates.

AVA went one bit further - they actually made their own ECU/rolling road and dyno LOL

Shame the record was for a dude on skis tied to the rollcage of their racecar at speed! LOL nuts And that was the tuners brother!

I didnt do the 8inj one until last year but a situation arose where we could have done with the hard/software to do it for a customer so upon mentioning this to kenny, he wrote an interface in his dinner break one day so we can map it via our existing up to date interface.. Honestly!! The smart tw@

So you were once correct, but now your not

Nicole...what i say is what i beleive wether right or wromg or if it causes an argument...i keep it "real"......What you said was completely true however thus i remained "real" and told the truth.

One day people may understand that being real is more important than having 2 personalitys even though the multi personality person actually will get on in life much better!

Which one of "you" said that ?

So we've established that you don't think Martin is a "propper" mapper - you still haven't revealed who you "thought" was the other?

I knew that's who you thought .

Harvey mapped Lee's S8 from scratch (there was absolutely NO base map for a GT35 / 1000cc injectors ), the Radical on MBE was mapped from scratch, all his normally aspirated engines on what-ever ECU the customer brings are mapped from scratch etc, etc. Just goes to show that someone has been feeding you duff info - I wonder who that might have been?

Phil, i guess you think that mapping from scratch involves writing the software itself, when that is in fact a software programmers job.

A software programmer can no more map a high performance engine than a mapper can write high performance software

And what is your definition of mapping? Im interested to know.

Well as i am no mapper my definition is not what i am doin to my car which is using a base map and changing the ignition/fuelling at certain points to get the best out of my engine according to the tools i am using...also setting boost map up from scratch etc etc.

So my actual defintition is someone who Mike just described, having the ability to write a map from scratch...which i could not do and feel alot of tuners could not do.
