Just my opinion though.
To be an expert engine tuner, you must have a complete working knowledge of both engine building AND engine mapping i.e. you need to know how an engine actually works to be able to map them (or you will probably break the engine) and you need to know how to map an engine or all of your hard work building the engine will amount to nothing as it wont turn over because you don't know how to tell the injectors / ignition system to work.

Also, you need to know what these modifications to the engine will do to the rest of the car, what will a 200% increase in engine torque do to a complety standard gearbox / diff, will the car be able to stop as fast as it accelerates? All questions a good tuner will know the answers too, IMO
