Oh and this is the worst he said and i quote him "the numbers, letters are fine as are the size, font, and the GB sign is good and is reflective" so come on ffs leave me alone then!!! All down to the BS number, I mean if it was registered to another car then fine or he could not read it then fine but i think he is being petty imo

When you bought the plates, was there not a little sticker saying for show use only....or a comment made on the website you bought them off (assuming you bought them off line). You could try pleading guilty to the plates but explain you were unaware of the fact they were illegal until you got pulled up....also assuming this was your first pulling for the plates. Pleading guilty means you accept you were in the wrong but wish to put your self at the mercy of the courts. Also it shows you are not trying to undermine the policing methods of the state.

come on mate, if you didnt know pressed steel plates are illegal in this country you must have been locked in a basement for the last couple of years. its on these forums all the time and the people making the plates will tell you they are for off road or show use only or have a disclaimer printed and on show.
ignorance of a law isnt a defence even though its a pointless law in the first place.

Well said, I accept that i was in the wrong but not knowingly, I got a fine on the spot not so much as a get then changed asap witch i had to any way. The worse bit i asked another copper and he said he didnt know what was wrong with them (He wasn't a traffic cop but still) Just show not every one knows every law and it wasn't a blatant disregard for the law like stupid font ect

your reg plate doesn't need a BSAU number, its only applicable for cars registered AFTER 1st September 2001 AFAIK

Owning a car is becoming the crime of the century....and owning plates that ANPR cant read, is even worse !!!!
how the hell will they issue random fines to people if they cant auto-read the number plates !!!!

Bit off topic, but I'm sure I've seen this car in Droylsden on Manor Road a few weeks back.
