but with that said i understand where ppl are coming form i would not sit at 50 in the middle lane and it annoys me when there are ppl

but sitting at80+ on the inside lane imo is safer than trying to pull out all the time

 

a simple law of if there is a car behind you & its safe ie no one next to you. you must move out of the way

I agree overtaking is frowned upon, but part of the problem is that people who don't want to overtake don't leave enough space for the overtaking car to drop into. In other words they are being selfish gits and are also not leaving a safe brakeing distance for themselves. After all only a fool breaks the two second rule. As for middle lane hoggers, I have driven all over the country and everywhere you go there is a brainless twat in the middle lane doing 60. I have just been on the Directgov website and the highway code states:

If you are overtaking a number of slower-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past. the scenarios youre giving are not what im talking about, youre paying attention to if youre holding people up or not.


example.

you come up to a bit of traffic with a lorry overtaking anotehr.

some dippy bint decides to join lane 3 @ 60mph to overtkae the lorrys.


now what you end up with is lanes 1 and 2 EMPTY and about 20 cars in lane 3!

if i can cross 2 lanes, keep under the speed limit and pass over 10 cars in 1 go then something is seriously amiss.

hogging lane3 is far more problematic than hogging lane2

and the "well, im not going faster than 70mph as thats the speed limit" attitude is CRAP. if you want to do it fine, but the BIG ARSE FUCKING QUE behind you doesnt and youve just caused congestion

its the old guys in their company cars that pull over then try to out accelerate you from the inside lane that make me laugh.
especially as i floor it and go sideways at 70 then cruise past them laughing....

 

haha i did this to car on a dual carraige way, the idiot was driving 28ish in a 40mph so when the lane broke into 2 lanes from 1 lane i shot passed in a nissan pulsar on the inside coz the cunt stayed on the outside, perfect timing, as i got net to their windows which were open the exhaust shot the biggest backfire i've heard on the gear change!!!!! hahaha should have seen the fookers face's. they must have also got deafened by the loud hissing of the turbo as i went passed!

motorway lane discipline is absolutely poor in this country, why the fuck do drivers in the middle lane pull out infront of you as your in the outside lane just so they can get infront of the car that was infront of them in the middle lane and carry on doing the same speed as the cunt they overtook!!! Why the fuck do they do that?? pisses me off. I sit at 80 and overtake them so they zoom up to 85 and overtake me only to slow down back to 70 1/2 mile up the motorway!! WTF cocks!!!!

Its usually done by rich twats in thier mercs or tossers in BMW's. Is it some fucked up status thing that they cant cope with being overtaken by an old ford????

 

the problem I find with the inside lane on lots of motorways is that its fucked, often badly trammed up by the constant lorry use meaning your constantly falling in and out of lorry tracks, If its like this I will tend to avoid it but else I use all 3 lanes as required for overtaking.

 

I think the people who flash/toot after you over-take them are obviously worried/annoyed since they think you are going too fast for conditions. I seldom break the speed limit and yet i always seem to pass a line of cars on the M8 each morning.

Poor driver education is the core of the problem, too many people seem to want to sit at 50mph in a 70mph zone, for what reason i really don't know. They never seem to realise that they are restricting traffic flow and hindering progress for us all.

alot of motorists in the area i live go nuts if you dare to overtake them, they think that they decree the speed limit and all other motorists should have to abide by their ridiculously low speeds

and i've noticed alot of them darent overtake anything, presumably because they dont know how to.

so many times lately i've seen cars driving along slowly behind a cyclist or tractor on a country road, yet there is clearly 1mile of empty straight road ahead of them but they darent just go for it!

try driving a truck up and down all day, some right tossers just sit in lane 1 at 50mph or less which causes us to then clog up lane2 for about 1/2 mile to pass a car/van, also peoples poor positioning at junctions etc is a lot more noticeable when in a truck, i just think the standards these days are so poor in all manners of driving.
