Learnt an important DIY lesson
I'm midway through ripping out my old kitchen ready for the electrician tomorrow. Whilst undoing some very stuborn screws I slipped and bashed my elbow on the corner of the oven. Being hot and bad tempered I punched the underside of the worktop to make myself feel better.
Problem was the claw hammer that was on the worktop then fell off and smacked me on the head

After dancing about using some naughty words I have to now see the funny side but my head and my fist both hurt and I still can't get that bastard screw out.

pull the unit out of the wall
use a stud extractor to remove the screw
alternativly, use the hammer to hammer fuck out of the brickwork to get the screw out, mount it in perspex, use it as a trophy
alternativly, bash the screw back into the wall and leave it there, hidden from all and sundry

option 3 is the easiest and most satisfiyinh

Lol!!!
the house I am in now needs every room done and being a complete novice (1st house was a new build) I have learnt some painful lessons too!
hugely satisfying when it's done though!

That's why I'm having a go at most stuff myself. The sparks is a mate so I'll be chasing my own walls out. Fitted my own spots in teh =ceiling and wired them up without setting fire to the place.
If I have a stab and get it wrong I'll phone a mate to help me out. Got to learn somehow even if some lessons are more painfull than others

so I have learnt to turn ALL electrics off now not just the odd room! (that zoning issue is sorted now!)the only thing I dont do myself is the plastering! Father in law is a decorator by trade so has shown me the ropes, lining paper is a piece of piss now

This was my 3rd room ever! (Minus a light fitting)
Before

During

After

As you can see by the lansing carpet, there is much left to do!

It's out!!!!
Brute force saved the day. May need a smidge of plaster though.
No room to work in. New oven is sitting in the living room (handy coffee table if a little high, and the fridge freezer is due any time after 3pm. The old one objected to being moved so that's me £300 out of pocket for the month. lol

Theres nothing like working on a full house.
You rip something out then have to move something else back in its place to allow space to rip the next one out.
When I did my sisters kitchen I opened all the windows and lobbed all the old shit straight into the garden... scared the shit out of the cat each time.
You should change your username to 'Timmy'. (as in mallet, not the southpark fella).
