tp be fair martin even if the rumours where true ( and the ones ive heard where a little worse ) 70% of the people on here would tell you anything to lick your arse,,,,, look at the posters who are replying on here,,,,,,,,, then look at THERE OWN moral judgements on people they DONT know,,,,,,,,,, most are full of shite anyway but i know you aint writing for that type of crowd

martin time served is the MAIN issue,,,,, you done what ever and was delt with,,,,,, learnt from it and moved forward so proof the system works IMO

you seem to have been VERY unlucky to get 18 months for a first offence like that so im guessing the judge was looking at the whole case,,, going to the crown though means it was treated as a proper serious case

i aint bothered either way tbh,,,, infact i couldnt care tbh as being in the game and seeing the people and hearing the rumours and facts...... there aint a single garage owner in the motor trade whos going to heaven

hell theres a few people on here who have nicked cars in there past im sure and sure theres some members who have nicked other members cars also

Question

Ohhhhh you were a bad man Mr Hadland

Will this prove to be an issue if you were looking for access to be granted for entry to the US, I read you wanted to do the Gumball there next year?

I'm sure we have all heard of folks being refused entry to the US for criminal offences, drink driving being a common one.
It would be a shame if this were the case.

p.s judging by the views so far, your media man should have had you do this as a pay per view event.

fair play martin, as allready said, most of us do something stupid at some point in our life, but you have obviously learnt from this mistake and gone on to build a great reputation and a great buisiness

Repairing Metro's and Rover 100's, after reading that it could not get any worse imho

strange thing about this country is we often seek to destroy what others have worked hard to achieve, its very sad.
The fact of the matter is people make mistakes and slip in life, im most certainly not in a position to judge others. It is not this that matters but how you respond after the slip that makes the difference.

Only thing I think you have to be ashamed of these days is the fact that you don't do work on Escort turbos

Sad you were in effect forced to post that, the past is just that and should be left there

I'm totally underwhelmed but then I knew I would be.

Think I'm sticking to my story that you ran high powered speed boats off the coast of Miami for a South American looking dude, whom you called 'Bro' every now and then!

well written martin.tbh the sentance does seem a bit harsh now but tbhback then they locked you up for throwing litter on the floor they let you off with rape now as theyve filled the poxy prisons up with speeding motorists.

like i said before, you didnt need to do this but at least it dispells all the bullshit chinese wispers.

as said back there is probaly still people doing worse on here now.or have done alot worse.

as for the cossie thefts now and then.back then there wasnt many being broken by the owners due to them not knowing how,and also there wasnt internet use back then so it was harder to sell bits unless you knew people.
nowdays the odd one here and there is stolen for breaking but nothing like it used to.

at least you can get on and relax now and forget all the crap. susanrs can curl up and hide again now

Christ Martin, what an essay!

But one question, why are you bothered about what jealous ignorant small minded people say behind your back when at the end of the day, you've built a respectable reputation and business?

I love this quote...

Sorry it has proven to be so mundane and not as "gangster" as many would have wished, but please feel free to add the odd gun running and heroine smuggling if this makes you feel better....
Because it shows how far some people will go to alienate you, without just cause. You know what they say Martoon, give them enough rope....

i think you did the right thing in posting it, as the rumours were far worse than that - clearly a case of chinese whispers where the truth gets distorted and turned around so that, possibly like the judge, other people get you mixed up with the other martin involved with the stolen cossies.

when you posted up that you had turned over Ł1/4 million in a quarter, you can't wonder that some of your competitors would like to have a slice of that and may repeat things about your history to cast doubt upon you.

interesting read, and well written.

Nice write up, good on you but as far as dispelling rumours goes: I wouldn't have thought you would have owned up on here if you we're selling charlie or nicking Cossies so I doubt it would stop people from gossiping.

Nobody's whiter than white are they martin. Good to see you have nothing to hide.

The prick who owns puma speed was doing this only he were using new shells and written off pumas then simply swapping all good parts over and selling them as low milage minters. Making a good few grand per car.

Makes you laugh how the truth gets twisted

Funny must of been just after you got released, you were at a redline event with your mondeo and lee was there in his nova.
I was with courtney in my cav turbo, and someone said to Jon (owner of courtney) that guy with the mondeo is "Dodgy as hell . . . . . . . but fuck can he make cars go fast"

Got to love the gossip of the car world

To be honest Martin I think even if your tale of the past was much worse than it was, people wouldnt give a stuff, because your reputation and quality of work now speaks for itself and that reputation and work is very very good!!

And fair play to you for clearing up what happened on this site. Trust me, it will have done you a lot of good and will shut up the gossipers and knockers once and for all! They have nothing to throw at you now and must raise their game to even get near your standards of tuning, workmanship and customer treatment!!

martin,

Having been asscoiated with the RS scene for what seems like donkeys years, and now running the nearest local group to you (black country) i was aware of various "tall tales" doing the rounds in the past, most of them concering what you have discussed in your first post.

Now the "facts have been spoken" i think thats proved that most of the idle rumours were nothing more than amplified bullshit!

I think youve done the right thing by dispelling all the stories that used to float about.

Matt.

As someone who doesnt know Martin I've got to say, I'm very impressed by that little metro scheme.
I'm of the opinion that no-one was harmed so no harm done. Buyers wanted 'new' metros, you supplied them with 'good as'.
Infact, given your spotless mechanical rep your re-manufactured cars were probably better than anything that left Rover on a friday afternoon, new parts or not.

Funny how a lot of people on here now say that 'the truth is out' and that this will end the rumours....

How would you know it is the truth? Not slating Martin, just questioning people's common sense.

stephtell,

whats more likely to be true.

a mate that told a mate that told a mate that told a mate that martoon was running a massive car theft operation.

hearing a story direct from the horses mouth that sounds perfectly reasonable, can be backed up by facts, and that is on a public forum that anyone who knows different can openly discredit.

if martin was lying, i#'m pretty sure he would have been pulled up on it by now

Good read and more interestingly very very similar to the rumours I had heard! Not sure if thats good or bad but it certainly didn't stop me buying my last set of r888s of you (why would it?!).

Yes but the car won't be on track as the 3rd gear dog ring still needs replacing and I have not had a chance to pull the box out.
