the judge sounds like he needs a fucking slap!!!!

I do find it absurd you got locked up for that. So you bent the DVLA rules slightly!! So what!!!! Think of the numbers of people with out of date address on V5's, licenses etc or incorrectly registered kit cars etc. dont see them being hounded and locked up!!!

Had no idea about any rumours, or indeed any interest in them if I am honest! Sounds like you got the shitty end of the stick, ref: the sentence. But, I can only say in my opinion you seemed to have grasped an oppotunity many of us would have, given the same circumstances and, well simply been caught for some cheeky trading, rather than being Ronnie Biggs!!
Alot of us have pasts we would simply prefer to be kept out of the public eye, me for one! However congratulations for being brave enough to post it on here, as I guess like me most users simply had no idea, but it appears a case of chinese whispers had been doing the rounds..

Anyway its all over and done with and if anyone of your current or indeed future customers changes there mind about trading with you then its there loss.

all i am going to say to this post by martin is that he was perfectly fine about it and even told me about the rover story when i was up there a while ago, just as a bit of friendly chit chat

and, having been on the reciving end of a few dicis0oins that have left me baffled, i can honestly say it would have been easy for the wrong martin to have been clobbered

The DVLA were properly pissed about it at the time and because of this changes were made to the process of registration of built up vehicles. That coupled with the conspiracy charge made it serious.

Fucking right, where the hell did all the people who rodded their blocks and then bought a rebuilt one think the bits for the rebuilt engine came from, brand new parts from ford? Of course not it would be too expensive. Bought secondhand? Not exactly loads of people breaking cossies back then when they were still worth good money whole, its fucking obvious where it all came from

Well I knew nothing about that and had heard nothing about your past but 2 things, this is extremely honest of you & I don't care about what did or didn't happen in the past. I am not a Reyland customer (at the mo) I know but this doesn't make me think any less of you, if anything I respect you even more because of the honesty and time it took you to compile that. I hope it puts any shit you have had to deal with to bed.

Mate, its nothing today compared to the early/mid nineties. The odd car gets taken these days which simply does not compare to what was being taken back then.

exactly ...lol.....why do you think cossies were changed from group 9 to the new group 20+d

not only that you couldnot sell your cossy at that time wasn't worth alot because the insurance it was stupid money to insure them

rs500 and 3drs were changing hand for 7k/8k/9k because of the insurance then

Interesting read - I suppose the only issue is when the people who bought the cars from you "knowing the score" passed them on to people who didn't and that meant innocents bought cars that weren't what they were "exactly" supposed to be.

Lots of people have done 'exciting' things in their pasts. I'm sure this will clear up any rumours on the net.

Not that I need to say it, but I would be happy having u working on my cars. Always thought that.

Cheers

thats if your car wasn't a ringer, a write off, stolen recovered etc already.
the cosworth was the number 1 fucked about with car in the 90's.
there always was loads of rumours about of who broke bent cars and who used stolen cosworths and parts for rallying/racing etc

my first cosworth had been stolen and recovered and used in a ram raid and had gone through a jjb backwards.
you don't hear much about ram raiding anymore

New it would make interesting reading and certainly cleared up the rumours that sadly circled around.

Always people out there trying to knock people who are successful on their own merits. Jealousy in most parts.

Fair play Martin

iirc figures came out saying that cossies had a average of lasting 3 days before they were nicked.
