Default First breakdown in my Cosworth

I've had my Sapph 20 months now and always wondered why everyone kept complaining about reliability. I was out in the car last night for a blast and it is amazing now so I went to take it over to my parents this afternoon, got into it, turned the key and nothing I tried the lights, washers, windows etc and they were fine so I put a meter across the battery and it was 11.8v so I locked it up and went to my parents in my other car.

Got home and called the AA and they came out and diagnosed the fault

A snapped wire for the starter motor Someone in the past has added a new piece of wire that was thin and where it joined the connector it had snapped lol

The AA guy replaced that and it fired straight up and purred away

Anyone else had anything so daft go wrong?

Glad it was a simple fix for you, not really had any major problems with mine in 3 years I have had it, just a coil pack go which was causing a missfire on boost.

no daft problems bar my map sensor got full of water

everything else has been major, pistons rings, rebuild rings again, 3 turbos in 2k miles, clutch seized up now fine, compression strut and adjustable tca came loose on passenger side, oil modine cracked so all my oil in water

other than its fine lol

so full rebuild again as from monday when i start stripping it and doing it all over again of the whole car to make sure everything is in perfect shape

Not read all the post, were the turbo's primed correctly?

The only 2 (touches wood) I've ever had are these:

- Pulled over for some reason I can't remember now. I stopped engine, started it again a few mins later and the revs were just going UP with no throttle pedal action at all Stopped it, lifted bonnet and the clip that retains the throttle cable to the braket had come out, clipped back in and magic

- Car died, and kept coming back alive but a bit shit, firing was all over the shop. The plug for the CPS had lost its metal retaining clip, cable tied it on and was fine for 2 yrs, then came back 2 months ago so I replaced it with a new plug end I bought at the time but never got round to fitting

So all have been fixed at the side of the road

yeah a few daft things
wrong plugs,so missfired
oil leak from oil temp switch
accidentally left a gerber on intercooler, fell off, goodbye cambelt!
new engine (jb's 418bhp one)
got it fitted, wouldnt start, insufficient wiring to fuel pump
fuel rail bolt stripped thread, rail detached, scary moment
broken bd16 camshaft
obliterated diff at santa pod with 36psi boost launch
1 jubilee clip per boost hose not enough for 34psi boost,so started running 2 per
jb had previously bored out sump plug so when i chaged it i couldnt find an appropriate washer,BIG oil leaks!!!!solved with hylomar!
225 tyres on rear wheels (escos rims) got too friendlywith my arches with over 400lb/ft on a launch with std suspension!!!causing me to run "secret spec" tyres for a while(rubbed off all the writing on sidewalls!)
2wd rad NOT a direct fir onto 4wd engine!bodged together some pipes,awesome!
bottom pulley stripped teeth off cambelt resulting in final engine death!!!!
this all happened within 18 months and i have just finished paying off the 10 grand or so i spent on it in that time!!!!!!NOT a cheap car!loll!!!
lots of silly little things went wrong, but stupidly i still want another!
