Roger Clark Scooby was my car of the day, awesome machine. Sitech S2 and Lloyds S2, both done a great job, aswell as the Granada and Lee Cattermoles 3dr . Not to forget the Hedley motorsport MK1, great fun watching that on the handling

Does it spin the wheels in second currently on that surface then? if not, why only put the gas in from 3rd?

Road legal is a loose term.

Road legal, non tube/space frame cars, no tubbed cars etc.....

Now...that green Mini was very very nice.....but there was a distinct lack of Mini about it, and lots of space frame.

IMO, cars should retain most, if not all of the original monocoque or chassis, with perhaps some minor trimming here or there. Either for powertrain fitment, or cages etc.

The new Hauser built Skevo that Norris will drive with its rotated engine/box is going a tad far for the roadiness idea.

Lots of road car racing classes require all original chassis legs etc and bulkheads to remain intact ??

Either way, great day, but f'ing hot !!!!!!!!

I was stopped (b class) from running a vauxhall viva that does 10,000+ miles a year because it had tubbed arches and told it would be in D class, so I was very surprised to see a mid engined mini in B class too TBH mate

Im sure Chris M will post his reasoning for it though, he's normally a very pleasantly transparent kind of fellow with this stuff

It sure does make a difference to be there on your own. I think anyone that goes to that event on their own and does remotely well should be very proud of themselves.

Your first run was real good and your others were good too, just not as good

Well done though, and well done for having the balls to take your Ford I'd have brought mine if it had an extra 200hp

Are you the guy with the LS engined granada then? Love that car!!! Whats your intake base plate about? looks like one for a carb that you've adapted. any more info on why you've done it that way? My friend and I were discussing that for some time. Whats your power output? ect...

Cheers

Well...fabricated alloy intakes look class, and are mega expensive.

Carb based intakes also look good ( IMO ) and are relatively cheap. Some say they help power, others dont. Id actually be in that latter train of thought from my own findings, but I still prefer how it looks.

And now Im running 2inj per cylinder.....the original plastic intake would be very difficult to achieve that.

So basically, its more cosmetic reasons than anything. Dont know about power....and not really that bothered.
I know what it made on a Dynapack back in January, with missfires....

But seeing as every dyno reads different, I really dont see the numbers as meaning very much.

That said.....I may try and get to a DD sometime this year.

The only thing about the whole event that I don't feel is right are the prizes.

A mate of mine won Ł100 @ Santa Pod for being the fastest rwd car and it was only Ł15 to get in that day.

Considering its Ł100 min to enter better sponsors and prizes should maybe be considered ?

Lets face it...with the amount of big name rich tuners in there.......it'll be them winning the prizes in most cases anyway.

cash prizes arent the way forward in many peoples opinion for a road car event which attracts in the main people with their own cars and not pro drivers. 70-80% of the cars their are not tuner cars, and are built/driven by the owner. any prizes offered are what the sponsors put forward, maybe there could be some discussion on that tho.

the mini was a little more chassis modified that i was first made aware of, having discussed it with the builders etc, i think that car would probably have to run in pro-drag class in future as it didnt appear to have much mini in there. very nice build tho and people liked it, no one objected on the day but i think if it had gone better (first time out) we may have had some competitor complaints which would have been justified i guess. other than that tho i'm not aware of any car issues or tyre complaints this year
the maj of competitors turned up with tyres to the rules etc.
a certain rwd kit car owner did fail testing as he turned up on completely illegal road tyres with no tread left but was sorted when he fitted a new pair

Here's a possible consideration for the future: Lightweight class?
That Mini, Elises, Westies, Dax etc. in their own class?

Did not make it to the event speckys tigra did well according to a couple of mates, 11 second quarter at 130+ is mad for a fwd, i went in that car when it were 50 bhp down on what it is now and its stupidly quick in a straight line, not much cop on corners tho.

Who could that have been then????

Those tyres had tonnes of tread left . So much that Stav complained about me throwing them in the skip!!!!

Yep those new tyres did get fitted and then caused the knightmare that was a broken diff!!! Drove to Scunthorpe and then a 6am start to fix it!!!!

Had a good day. Not sure what was different about the organisation but the queues seemed much smaller than usual and the 2 cars on track handling worked well.

Wish they would do that in Time Attack too so open wheelers like us can compete.

Ever since Duncan blew the socks of everyone at Rockingham a couple of years back they have not been allowed.

I didn't do a sighting lap either. You ran just infront of me i think. Was funny watching you lighting the wheels up all the way around

Depends what you call useable.

To me almost all the class A/B/C cars are perfectly road useable, if quite hardcore.

The RCM car totally rinsed everyone and id say thats a totally useable road car, for example.
