Mine's been spitting oil out from the dipstick area and it's made a huge mess everywhere, especially under the car passenger side from the engine back to the middle of the car. Had a breather issue that I've now rectified.

I've had a similar problem on an old cossie of mine, it was wire rung too btw.
The oil was leaking from the head gasket area, or rear main oil gallery to be more specific...the best cure is to simply block this oil gallery up with some dowel, provided this is your problem.
I had oil all along the passenger side of the engine, then obviously dripped onto other parts....i tried every other avenue but couldn't fix it. It seems the wire ringing and my gasket choice were perfect for sealing the combustion chambers, but not the oil galleries. A set of new bolts may have cured it but doubtful.
It's worth looking at an yours i reckon.

I diagnosed mine by cleaning, then liberally applying white paper that I sellotaped into my engine bay then going for a spin. Then I saw oil spray, then I disconnected part of the breather system then drove it again.
TBH I can't be sure that I've found the leak but I know it was blowing from the dipstick and I know that I have cured that. There may still be another leak elsewhere but there's so much dirt and mess in the engine bay that I'm not too worried.

I have had the problem with half moons and it sprayed the underside of the bonnet, have also got a small cam seal leak but from looking under my car last week it didnt seem to make it that far down. Best to get it on the ramp and have a look with a lamp, shouldnt be hard to see.

I know what it is, it's the plenum chamber gasket as I went through all of what you have and found it by accident. The oil pipe from the breather pumps it into the chamber and the boost pushes it out the bottom of the gasket. When I changed it everything got better including the erratic idle. When the car is boosting the oil forms a temporary seal so has little effect on boost pressure. Clever aint I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Captiva....if the plenum gasket was damaged enough to leak oil(even thi there wont be any oil in my plenum) ther would be a massive boost leak and I would be able to hear it.

I can only tell you what happened, as I said before I found it by accident and wiped my hand under the plenum chamber which was soaked in oil. Then spent the next hour figuring out why there should be oil there, then found the bolts were loose and you know the rest. I too thought about boost leak but if it was then it was minimal as said before the oil inside was a temporary seal. I have another Cossie 4x4 with the same problem and have just bought the gasket to change this weekend.
