Generally, for cossies the accepted stages are:

1) 270-280 BHP 15-16psi ish, chip and -31actuator change
2) 300ish, light green injectors (355's) 18-20psi chip and -31actuator change, rare now as most people go to stg 3 immediatly.
3) 330ish BHP, dark greens 3 bar map sensor -31 actuator.

Stg 3 is quite an open statement as you can run dark greens on a T3 or a T34, rs500 cooler etc so a wide range of specs under the stg 3 umbrella.

basically its made up so it doesnt mean shit

but as wil has bosted thats what people normally mean when theyre talking cossies.

i tend to think of "stage1" on any car as exhaust/chip/filter but like i said, its all made up by companies to sound good so i wouldnt beleive much

stage 15 was only an example.

the tuning could be on any engine / car.

The reason I ask is, I never really looked at tuning in stages, an example could be my car, so many things have been done to it , I couldn't say what 'stage' it's at.

I'ts easy to see just how much work (and cash) has been put into a lot of Fords on this site. Just look at the resto threads.

Many of the cars are way past the 'basic' stage 1,2,3.

I thought I was a bit backward asking, but from everyones comments, it's a lot clearer now.

cheers.

mark, are each of your "stages" set in stone tho with each gradualy improving on the previous? or did you just kinda throw together a pricelist that looks sensible?

Most of them can going up a couple of stages with not to much changes,
Its only when you get to the higher spec's that the price creeps up but each one has to be priced rather than a set cost as parts and other bits can add or take away on the total price.

would you say that the exhaust system was still a restriction on all your modded engines, or has this necessary part been improved so much that it does not detract from the final results.

If you had a free hand with the exhaust system, could you improve on your results.

All outputs over 500hp it is recomended a 3.5inch exhaust and 600hp and about it is a must.
