yip , sounds cheap ,what you need to know?
beware if its an early model as they suffer from timing chain failure and premature bore ware

owned 4 of them, unreal performance and i am talking super-car!!!, surreal luxury but 14mpg makes sti imprezas, etc look silly and sits at 155mph like its supposed to cruise at that speed, make sure it does not have the nicasel bore problem if its 2000 on you will not have to worry about it

It's a 98 with 115k on it.
Looks nice, but see it as a timebomb for emptying my pockets.
Work and back is main driving and steady speeds with little traffic so mpg shouldn't be too low.
See it as a cheap toy, but sure it will bite my arse!

4 k is far 2 much money for that, the last one i sold was a year ago 2000 W 62000 miles full jag service history and i got £5800 for it, i reckon that age with those miles and the current price of fuel its worth about £2800, defo get one if you can, will put a smile on your face every time you drive it

Overpriced lol! Think how much they were new!
Want a 330D or 530D really but most are auto, and that kills the mpg.
Saw how cheap these had got and thought fuck the mpg
Want torque for overtaking all the wankers dawdling to save fuel.
This M3 does it's best mpg at 80-90 according to computer so try to drive to save fuel...

Sure they go well, but they must weigh close on 1700kgs. Early 80s supercar performance maybe....

Sure a remap and smaller pulley on the 'charger etc could lead to pleasant performance gains

0-60 in 4.9 secs and a limited top speed of a 155mph how is that not supercar performance ?

I'd imagine it highly likely that the 155 mph limiter is just a few miles per hour short of the ACTUAL limit the car will do - just like BMW M3s, E36 shape doing 155mph - they'd probably only go on to 160 -165 tops. Mine managed 157mph on a GPS.

If I owned a supercar that did LESS than 170 I'd be very disappointed!

0-60 in 5 seconds is great in a big old comfy barge sure, but with Scoobs and Evos running 4-5s 0-60s, and pretty much every modern supercar (talking 90s onwards doing a MAX of 5, I'd be realistic, and be thinking my XJR was quick yes, but NOT supercar quick)

I don't doubt for a minute they are BRISK, but the numbers don't add up - 1700kgs and 370 (or 400) bhp really isn't going to blow a Ferrari / Porsche into the weeds TBH. My old Cossie was at one point 1400kgs and 370 bhp, yet I had no disallusions that it was a supercar.

My point being, quick yes no doubt, supercar quick no.

I'd still own one and still race every thing I could with it just for the fun though, then waft away in my leather arm chair clad luxury

I was browsing online and seemed they struggled to better 14's on the 1/4 mile?
My old M3 will get into 13's.
Think XJR's are near 2 tonne too?

About a mile away.
White smoke on start up is a worry, good chance it's where it's not been run properly for a while, or could be clever seller talk - although done little miles of late.

A 13 isn't even supercar IMHO! 14s as are probably more realistic are positively recreational!

Just read a review that said they were 1665kgs. That review mentioned them being mainly or all aluminium, which is cool. Are the ones you're looking at the same model (as in lightweight aluminum?)

If so then the 5.0 secs to 60 and 155 limiter apply...if it was an older steel bodied / chassied car then they are 200kgs heavier - that's going to hurt the 0-60 I'm sure.

Sooo cheap though

well all i know for sure is all the xjr's i owned used to annihilate sti imprezas and my mate's 996 Porsche could not get passed me, tried on several occasions although he would kick my arse on the back roads

I used to drive about in a daimler super v8 for a while (wasnt mine, just used to borrow it) fuel economy was PROPERLY shocking, like 15 to the gallon average and into single figures the moment you went anywhere quickly.
They are fast but not mentally quick, the gearbox is very slow to change down when you boot it and you really feel the weight when you are cornering it, its not something you can chuck about like you can an M5

Great cars, but only really as a cruiser not anything else, and the moment you use them for that, at 125 a litre and under 4 miles to a litre, it just becomes something you dont want to be doing at 30-40p a mile IMHO

I love 'em, even the N/A v8's feel quick and rev well for what they are!

Motorway muncher, can't compare it to either a rallybred special or sportscar.

BMW autos are very good on fuel - some models do better as an auto than a manual!!

It comes down to driving style, an auto is in the right gear - most people are not!

Alex meant to look into it as most of my driving is constant A road country roads, so in top gear most of the time.
Autos lock in top or something don't they, so no losses, so same mpg as manual in this circumstance?
Is rare I'm round town, usually on open road.
What's the tiptronic or whatever like?
Parents new shogun has ability to select gears manualy on the stick, takes years lol.
