if its a Q plate it has to stay on a Q.
There was some rumours of personalised Q plates, but they didn't get round to it as they didn't think enough people would buy them!

As said, its not possible, unless theres some loop hole im not aware of.
If it were possible, id be buying all the Q plates and putting private reg's on to make a killing!
Also, generally speaking, Q plates are on a Q because they cant determine the true age of the vehicle so you wont know what age/prefix private plate you were allowed to put on, one of the reasons why its not possible.

reason i ask is that i saw a black three door for sale in the south that was a cossie apparently with bad history so the guy had it put on a y plate from a xr4i , and i have seen a cossie i like but its on a q and re sale will be poor surly if i went for it ???

As said you cant get it of but i have had some nice Q plate cars and never had a problem selling them but what you have to remember it will only be worth 75% of a normal plate car
