Default Anyone on here got there Amateur radio licence?

Passed mine and just got my callsign......M6COS.....

Had a cb for years as loads of us from up here get on a few nights a week when the lasses are watchin the telly, And decided that i may as well be able to use my new rig to its full potential as it recieves and transmits from 0-200mhz.

I used to have a cb which needs no license, but amateur radio you have to sit a series of tests to get your personal call sign

You need a licence to transmit on certain freqs jacko or else ofcom will turn up and take all your radio gear including your telly, radio, ect ect......

And they are shit hot with this to....they have little bases all over with people just sat listening to make sure you are sticking to the rules.....lol

No good for you...pmsl

Fuzzy i know these days people can just turn a computer on and talk anywere but it is just not the same as taking on the radio in real life and hearing peoples voice's and do do get a sence of achievement when you manage to talk to someone in say the usa or canada on just 10watts of power...

what achievement is there? do you build the radio systems yourself? is 10 watts very low then? what do you talk about with these strangers on the other end?

A lot home made radio's ( but im not that cleaver yet ) but i do make home made aerials which need to be exact for the freq you are transmitting on and yes 10watts is low and you can talk about whatever you want....

99% of time it is just talking to local mate's in say a 30mile radius and it is more like talking on a mobile phone then say typing all night on a computer.....
But at a flick or a switch i could talk anywere in the world...

You can still talk and say watch a full program on telly rather than looking at a screen all night.......

Each to there own mate...
