Default 3G GSM GPRS WiFi MMS

I've had my N95 for a year now (well, it was replaced at 2-3 months old).

I know that WiFi is using my home internet connection (or another if I'm out and about), and that MMS is the multimedia messages, but I still don't know what the difference is when 3G or the GSM antenna comes up on the screen.
Normally I have the antenna but sometimes it says 3G - I've never paid attention to see if I get both at the same time, or only get one if the other isn't available.

And what is a GPRS or EGPRS or UMTS packet data connection?

GSM is voice

GPRS is 2G data speed EDGE/EGPRS is a newer 2G technology thats faster but not as fast as 3G

UMTS is 3G data speed, HSDPA is a newer 3G technology thats much faster.

MMS is a picture text message

WiFi is your home wireless

While we're on the subject why does it sometimes say 3.5g on my N95?

So, 3G or HSDPA is only an improvement for connecting to the internet or sending data?

So it shouldn't make a difference if I'm on one of those or on GSM/EGPRS/UMTS for telephone calls?

when your connected to a 3g network the internet will be faster, but its also a slightly different network to normal gsm i believe? Wont make any noticeable difference but you'll be talking over a 3g network rather than you'r normal network

3g uses more battery so if you don't browser the web often you might be better off turning it off in the options, and sometimes if your connected to 3g you can have less signal/more signal than normal network as it uses diffferent antennas.

I think, lol
