lol @ people saying i fitted the bushes wrong! i'm not a total lemon!!!
The funny thing is, if 99% of saph owners drove this car, they'd not spot anything wrong at all

the problem with static alignment is just that, its great when static, if you have anything that moves in eth suspension joints, and that includes the shell, then once it moves the geometry is fooked again, the ARB compliance bushes are the worst for this, closely followed by the main rear beam bushes and the diff mount.
I ran solid alloy beam mounts for 10 years and didnt really think it was any differant, from memory

Martin,
You've said yourself it wanders, Mark picked up on it straight away during mapping..
Rods Saff has the same beam as mine and as we all know was driven @ 200 mph and the car doesn't budge..

It's as almost someone is pulling the wheel against you so to speak, defo needs a proper setup, got it around about 140mph today and tbh it felt not to bad, mind you i was concentrating on other things..![Red Faced](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

Hate to put the cat among the pidgeons..............BUT, It handled perfectly with the standard rear end, and I certainly had it at around 130mph on more than a few occassions.
The rear diff carrier was replaced with a brand new item when I put the Quaife diff in, so it's probably not even done 10k.......... But bear in mind that this car is putting out well over twice the designed power/torque, so this could be something than would be worth upgrading.
And........all the rear bushes were replaced under two years ago with Powerflex Items, but it appears that Bud-Weis replaced these...............If he'd checked the receips, he'd have seen that these were only a year old and had no mileage on them at all. (All fitted by Tremona at Southampton, who are as good as anyone when it comes to Cosworths).
So my suspicions point towards the rear end, and something not right (Settings/bushes) on the beam. But I'd get the front end checked out too.
I went out in Mike R's Sapphire at Donnington, which had exactly the same set up as yours ...........and it handled perfectly. Infact I basically followed Mikes advice to the letter when she was built up, and Bud-Weis finished it off with the rear beam. (So at the moment you have the identical set up to Mike R's Sapphire, (Rear Beam + Quaife Diff + 3dr Front Suspension Hubs and arms) and not far off the same BHP. So there's obviously something wrong somewhere, and I'm suspecting it's something assiciated with the rear beam. (Settings/Bushes).

I'd tend to agree it will be the settings that will be the problem.
But i disagree with it handling perfectly on the old beam....i nearly met with the central reservation when racing a 355 the day i bought it lol.
The diff carrier may also be fine, i just seem to remember thinking it was a little slack feeling...but that could be perfectly normal.
PS there's nothing wrong with the Zoo beam as people are insinuating!!

Now now you two, no bitching on this post..........
it's a problem that'll get sorted, i'm 100% sure it's just the settings..![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Jim,
You ok mate?? it's not as bad as Martin says it must of been on the original beam, i've never had it wander that bad..
bet you shat yourself Martin nearly into the barrier.
as said previously, i had it upto good speed yesterday and it felt better, maybe as i've said, i'd forgot how the characteristics of these cars are/were..

I dont see how it can be wandering at all. On set-up with Mark at 150mph on a private road
and my standard beam, standard diff and mount and standard worn out bushes it didnt feel like it was wandering. Ok you wouldnt want to try and be a hero through the twisties as it did feel unstable to a certain extent but there must be something wrong

It wasn't handling perfectly when Martin (Bud-Weis) bought it, but that was because the front end had been set up incorrectly when I had the front tracking done. It had been wrongly set up to the standard 2wd Sapphire Settings, as opposed to Mike Rainbirds Settings for the modified 3dr Hubs and arms settings. This caused it to tramline badly. But when it was at the correct settings that Mike Rainbird had originally set the car up too, it drove perfectly.

So according to Martin in his previous post, it drove poorly even before this beam was fitted..
