Exclamation Hmm diesel mileage ?? new van

Got myself a new van guys, a vw caddy 104ps jobby, its quite nippy i suppose for a van and has all the mod cons lolo, kind of like a car to drive tbh, anyway set the mileage thingy, filled up with £70 worth of diesel and got 455 miles and the fuel light was on ?? just normal driving really 70mph etc etc and around town alot

Is this any good ?? i cant really remember if my old vaux combo was much better tbh?

And if i chip it will i get better economy ?

My combo does a consistent 47-48 mpg. Filled up earlier and did 448 miles for £57.01. Works out at about 47.5 mpg, so im happy with that. Mine seems to be better sat at 80 mph then 70mph too.

You really need to be be filling to the brim, zero'ing the trip counter, then filling to the brim again and work out exactly how much youve used tio the miles youve done. Using the light as a measure is not that accurate at all.

As said, you could see anywhere from 5%-20% increase in economy once its loosened up a bit, so your 40 mpg at the moment seems very good to say its new.

Ahh

Yes i was sure my combo did over 500 miles to a tank, but i think around £60 filled it to the max, where as i think around £70 max`s this but with different fuel prices i really need to looking at the gallon etc rather that £££

Yes for sure mate. Mine used to work out at 115 miles to £10 not much over a year ago, now its more like 75-80 miles to a tenner. Thats a massive difference in just over a year!

It now costs me £20 more PER TANK!
