use a tarcal strut brace and if it doesn't fit inside the inner turretts you know your shell has 3 dooritous.Make the shell fit the brace not the other way round

tony, mine were always run on full soft (granted i had ahmed springs) but only time they went on full hard was on the ring.

Forgot to say andy i also had a front strut brace.

must say i fitted, new powerflex buses at the front, a strut brace and ahemd springs, all at the same time, and the handling difference to the car was immense, both at low speed and at high speeds.

would have handled alot better if you turned them up then, imo on full soft they are fookin dangerous
basic rule of thump for any adjustable damper is stick them in the middle

thats the thing, you got cool rims, everyone else got wank gaylord skinny ones miles in the arches like i had (well over 5 years ago i might add ) and thats why stability is lovely for me and the current gay wheel crew

maybe the price you pay for not having a shit looking car mate

Chip, yes mate it felt superb afterwards, needs a setting up again now, don't know whether the 18`s are having an influence on how it feels over how the 17`s did, i guess obviously yes they will..

That was one hell of a way out................But didn't Martin fit a new steering rack, and never had chance to have the tracking done. If the toe in/to out wasn't set, then shis would have affected everything, Camber, Castor...........Everything.

Good to here she's all sorted now though.

Wheel change shouldnt change the settings at all.

However if the offset is different, it will change what the ideal settings are in the first place.

Chip,

Correct, the offset on the Comps is different from what the Hocks were, it just feels unstable again for some reason, easliy sorted though...

Almost every road test of the 3-doors when new complained of twitchiness and high speed wander/instability. In fact, one test mentioned the car could change lanes nearly at very high speeds after hitting a bump. They toned down the original front end settings before release of the 3-door as it was said to be "too aggressive" on turn in

Absolutely right Jim - it was all about offering a less twitchy car - the interesting thing was it worked well on bumpy circuits like the old 1988 Combe where the Sapphire was quicker than the old 3-door ( in 2 different mag tests ). Didn't have the razor turn in of the 3 door though - it's all compromise at the end of the day

Andy,

Excuse my ignorance, but surely any car would start feeling alittle unstable @ 160 plus??

Wonder how the feel must be for the top speed cossie boys?? my old 3dr used to feel like it was lifting @ the rear at very high speed, shat myself many a time.. i'd be crap trying to go for a top speed run...

staffi mine was the complete opposite, at about 120 you actually feel the rear sit down due to the rear fin. Can imagine on a 500 it is even more so.

Yeah I know what your staying Staf.......but just wondering if there was anything i could do to do myself any favors........!?

Thought Id ask as people have a lot of experience with them at this speed over the years + racing back in the day etc.

I would just take it for what it was on another car where there was never any develepment at that sort of speed (if that makes any sence lol)

You will aslo have plenty of people willing to buy the 3-dr bits, but you would have to be an idiot to sell them .
