A GT42 does NOT spool fast even on a 2.5-2.8, and they all twin scroll setups if we talking Skylines with em on. And yes, ive been in a few cars with them or equivalents on.

Spool pretty quick on on a Rotary or Supra engine mind, but everything does, lol.

TBH the massive majority of turbos with T4 or T6 flanges are twin scroll.

IMO it dont make a huge difference, decent mapping or better cam selection makes bigger differences, but its nice to have as its a little bonus.

Someone that seems to have a bit of experience of big turbos at last

Yeah I know what you mean Mark!

the 42's are rated for 3 bar! you just need to build a YB that can take it

There are LOTS of other factors comparing rods engine with an old t4 engine, NOT just the turbo like you seem to be doing?

And YES a well done modern GT35R engine will indeed spool similarly to an old T34 one did from ford, thats EXACTLY what im saying.

Going on what i Experienced in Chips nova (totally different engine i know, but then you guys aint on about a YB engine if you are talking VVT)
a GT35 Can indeed spool up a LOT earlier than i ever expected!

knowing it was a 500+ bhp capeable turbo, i was thinking 'lag monster'
but it simply is not! certainly not compaired to other Big turbo 2ltr cars ive been out in.

They are rated in airflow, rpm and pressure ratio.

I am sure Euan knows this and is talking about the rough boost that a decent yb would run at as an equivalent measure. You can't hang around in AVA all that time and think turbos capabilities are measured in bar. 3 bar on a 500 cc engine vs an 8 litre engine would require rather different flow capacity as u are pointing out.

Good work, be interesting to see what your going to rev it to?

I'd expect boost to be over 5k, Even with a good setup.

Not expecting much below 4.5k and then all in a rush, Going to rev to around 8300rpm or a bit more.

Rod,

That turbo is fucking huge, fair play, looks like you're going balls out to do it in style. Shame it will be shit on the road afterwards though, will you down spec the turbo etc after the records so its a nice road car again? Or will it literally just be used for events now?
