Oh my fucking good, that´s HUGE!!
Have actually been done in thedanish mkII escort (green dragcar) but went for hybrid gt40 instead cause of the lag, but the engine wasent build for a gt 42 tho.
Can say from personally experience, that turbo is a serius mofo![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)
My guess will be 950bhp @ engine without nos

It needs to start with a 8 in the hp for me to be happy, I dont think we will be close to 900hp.

Mark and Rod, good luck with the build, though I'd have thought 5000rpm was probably more realistic than 4500rpm for any kind of decent boost whilst off nitrous. Hope it all goes great though, look forward to seeing the car in action.

Compound charging is mostly used to achieve stupidly high boost pressures, not to spool up a big turbo.
Standard equipment on many modern diesels. And on modified ones they often link up to 4 together to get 200psi+ boost.
But it could have that effect too.
But TBH the money etc itd cost to be truly effective buys you a whole lot of nitrous to use as antilag, and nitrous will last a long time if its only used to bring the car on boost

If rod is hoping for 850ft/lbs he's hoping for 850+bhp also as everything is going to be over 5k (5252)

I have to admit ive no idea whats the motor will drive like, lets say this is for fun or cos we can & leave it like that. I bought this Turbo cos Mark is like a big kid & wanted to build an engine around it & we need Power for Fighting Torque or we will get beat. If its too much of a compromise or dont work I will go back to a GT40. The days of drivin it to work are long gone so decided lets just do it. Its just for show now & whatever Toyo expect of it. I can tell that Mark will enjoy building this one, had this silly grin on his face all day

Going on what i Experienced in Chips nova (totally different engine i know, but then you guys aint on about a YB engine if you are talking VVT)
a GT35 Can indeed spool up a LOT earlier than i ever expected!
knowing it was a 500+ bhp capeable turbo, i was thinking 'lag monster'
but it simply is not! certainly not compaired to other Big turbo 2ltr cars ive been out in.

The Scooby boys have been playing with Twin Scroll turbos for years, and if the complete build is spec'd accordingly the results can be very good (when compared to a single scroll unit). This was made much easier, when bigger twin scroll exhaust housings started to be cast.
With experience I have gained from turbo changes (twin scroll and single scroll), the boost profile is not the be all and end all and should never be used in isolation. Compare the actual bhp/torque at given RPM's between turbos on spool-up, not just the boost ramp itself.

Looks good Rod ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
I remember when we first moved on from the GT4088 to a GT42R when i was at RC Developments.
The only problem we found initially was speccing the smallest exhaust housing in the range in an attempt to introduce a lower boost threshold, however - we ended up trying a housing at the other end of the scale and found it made no difference to response and transformed the car!
Looks like there'll be some more record breaking soon!
