Default afr gauge recomendation and defi egt gauge problem

hi im looking to fit a afr gauge to the cos can anyone recomend one thats accurate.
and my defi exhaust temp gauge seems to be faulty it will suddenly jump from 600 to 900 instantly then drop to 500 instantly im thinking temps cant raise and fall that quick so must be a fault. is the temp sensor that fits in exhaust available separately ?

The only truly accurate ones are the calibration quality ones, but they cost thousands... Out of all the cheapie ones, there isn't much between them, so just pick whichever one you like the look of. They all 'work'.

Mine lasted several years of constant abuse including ALS before it started to do as you describe. Firstly I would check the connector plug, as despite supposedly being a proper water-proof connection, the pins do get furred up. I managed to get another year out of mine by cleaning these before it needed replacing. And yes the sensor can be replaced .

No, just the connector plug needs cleaning. If this fails to do the job, then the sensor has to be replaced.

No! Follow the wire back from the sensor and it will probably be sitting in the scuttle somewhere . It is a black plastic plug in connector, which enables the sensor to be swapped over as easily as unplugging the fans .

Any k type thermocouple will be pretty accurate and don't cost that much. I always use this over any in car type gauge.

seen one on ebay for £40 just reads lean, optimum and rich. just want an extra warning if anything drastic goes wrong.

That'll be shite. Probably Autometer? You'll find it will always read rich, AFR's for Turbo's cars and N/A cars are vastly different and most narrow-band gauges are aimed at N/A.

Wideband or nothing IMO.

I had a DynoTune one in my car, and when Karl was live mapping it, he said that it was pretty accurate when compared with his own equipment...

dont most wideband afr gauges use the same bosch sensor including lots of the more proffesional ones? in which case how can the cheaper ones be less accurate? Is it how they interpret the sensor?

Not all controllers are the same..... All the budget ones (< £500) are all much the same, I wouldn't expect more than half a point accuracy.
