My tommi had an exhaust and slightly higher boost (not much and still on std boost limit etc). It was considerably faster than a ctr. I raced lots of things in it.

power to weight comparison - is a std evo 6 about 245 wheels ava? Mine was 277 wheels. CTR about 170 wheels?

100 more at the wheels and only a few extra kilos - plus loads more torque too.

Interesting that it wasn't any faster in your experience.

Cheers

I had a 320BHP R33 GTR Skyline too, and my Evo 6 with 330 bhp was about 2 car lengths ahead of the Skyline (new owner tried it with me side by side) to about 80 mph.....

No CTR or anything the like would show an evo anything.

good power

but from what i have seen most evo/scoobys are fast up to around 110mph then seem to hit a wall
my B10 seems to get beat away from the line but it dosent take long for me to reel them in & go past
the van is just relentless from 0 to flat out in 5th

my tommi is very quick to a ton, it's about 360bhp but has an RS box fitted (shorter ratios).

not pushed it top end tbh as i've not needed to, but it gets there very quick, but tbh i'd expect a 360bhp cossie to be similar.

downside is that doing a steady 100mph in mine is @ 5000rpm

lol...the funny thing is 99% of the time i don't rev it hard, the power delivery is so smooth and sudden that i tend to change gear earlier as it feels nicer lol.

but that said it does enjoy being revved!!

If i could sort the stalling problem it'd be cock on! but i'll have to live with it.

tbh i have no idea why...i guess it broke one, the car used to run a bit more power than it's running now i think.....and no it's not a Monte unfortunately.

ps looking forward to this photo shoot with Mark, should be good!

Incidentally have you owned or driven any of the mentioned cars?

Yes i have... a 4x4 saff and evo 6..... whats your point. Maybe from 120+ they wouldnt be much in it but under that the evo will not have a hard time from a CTR.

Have you owned both?

strangely enough i helped my mate do a deal on an EVO 6 last night....his previous car was an 05 plate Civic Type R and he wanted a faster car, so did a deal on a near standard evo 6

i would say a astra vxr would be faster in a straight line than a CTR and i beat my mate in his VXR in my 5 from a rolling start.

Civic type-r blinkers ? If your going to try and be funny at least get it fucking right, its the dc2 integra type-r that is by far a more superior performance car than an escort cossie. Remember the itr is classed as the best fwd car ever produced now what in terms of performance is the escort cossie at the front for? Remember i'm talking totally standard here an escort cossie is heavy, slow, and wobbles around like a blomonge in the corners lol

Evo's are very good cars but from the ones i've driven and raced over the years straight line pace is hardly earth shattering in standard form, maybe they have all been fucked or running 2 psi of boost i dont know?

Crankwalk... that was the word that I was trying to find earlier, couldnt remember what the guy called it. Thanks.

hmm, maybe its he driver then? my mates evo that i borrow has only an induction kit and exhaust.the rest is brakes and suspension.
its an evo 6 and tbh it does lack a cossie's grunt past the 100 mark but it wouldnt struggle with a normal focus, civic, astra, hothatch
and i have driven a good few of them.ok not the integra but still.they just dont do it for me as a good car to drive.ok they aint bad,but theres better out there.

Utter bullshit

My take on it would be

A stage 3 2wd could prob beat a standard evo 6 in the right conditions

A stage 3 4wd would even struggle against a standard evo6 off the mark but might catch it later as per the original post

An evo 6 tuned above 300 bhp + id say would beat a stage 3 anything

You have to remember evo 3 & 4's only had 250 bhp and werent that quick

The 5's got much much quicker and the 6 more so

Even in standard trim evo 6's are VERY quick of the mark (0-60)

my sides are splitting at this whole thread

throw in the Evo 7 & 8 into this mix and you got a totally different ball game

in a straight line my cossie would've left my evo trailing far far behind, but outta the bends and on take off the Evo wins everytime

i'm sure it'll be a different once its re-mapped

that's 100% correct my mate has a 220 bhp rs turbo another one has a evo 6 and a scooby 2.5 sti 295 bhp

the rs turbo can keep dead with them from 20 mph onwards i could not believe it they even swapped cars to see if it was just the driver but still the same outcome
