Default EVO iv 's how fast?

say for example a stg 3 4x4 saff, seemed pretty equal on speed through 1st 2nd and 3rd but then the saff started to pull past quite rapidly through 4th and 5th... would that be a standard Evo, what kinda power do they have as standard?

ps i think it was a iv though could have been a v, if that makes any differance

A 4 and a mate has a tommi mac that couldnt get past my itr till 140 which he openly admitted. In standard form and in a straight line they aint mega quick its just people see the spoilors and bumpers and watch fast and furious and think that all jap stuff can jump bridges and when you turn the nos on the floor falls out lol

standard Evo is 280bhp, a remapped Evo 4 around 340bhp, they dont tend to make as much as the later Evo's do from a remap with standard engine etc.

Evo's pull well through the gears, but from 4th and 5th gear they dont seem to perform as well as say a similarly spec'd Cosworth from what i can gather on here.

as an example... my own Evo 5 (induction kit, stainless exhaust, remap to 1.4 bar) at The Racing Line in Halifax made

285bhp @ wheels which equates to 365bhp @ flywheel
265lbft @ wheels which equates to 345lbft @ flywheel

agreed my old frs used to start pulling past me mates scoobs and evos from 30+ even with an awesome launch i couldnt lay it down like they could.

its like now past 80-90 i think my crappy ctr would have kept up with my old evo. it died above 100

Whats tht got to do with me saying that a modern 200bhp fwd car is about as quick as an evo 4 5 6. In real world terms when are you going to race 1 from 0 to flat out. More often than not your going to come up against 1 in 2nd gear of roundabouts etc or on the motorway.

Incidentally have you owned or driven any of the mentioned cars?

ive raced both a ctr and frs in my cav turbo from 30-100 and beaten both although there wasnt much in it with the frs, was easily beaten by a tommi mak evo though, similar story with other evos.

No i havn't owned any, but my point was accelaration of a 4wd drive car of equal power would be quicker than that of a fwd car.

no mate a 4wd car with similar power has more transmission losses so less power gets to the road

not strictly true, a fwd car with have less transmition loss, so long as it can "hook up" well it should actually beat a 4x4

The quickest i did 0-60 in my MR which was forged etc 443bhp atf was 4.1, but i'm a shit launcher tbh, BUT i raced my mate in his 3dr (PRIVATE ROAD) his is around 380bhp and i was amazed how it kept up, well no i wasn't i'm a liar cus i've had cossies before and knew he would..

MR`s weigh 1420kg though.. saff is around 1240 isn't it??

My saff feels ALOT quicker than the MR did, strange i know but true..

Thats good to hear, my Escort Cos lost 80 BHP through the transmission on PE's rolling road. So the same as an Evo.

I raced 2 Focus RS's at Rally Day last year and there was bugger all in it at 130mph , they had been heavily tuned with Primary Design stuff etc but my Evo was running 380bhp, fortunately for them we were on a straight road,

Evo's come in to there own on the bends and back roads,

Mike

Cheers,

evo,s from 1 to 4 can get crankwalk, this is cus mitsu dident design the main bearings correctly and this can starve the main bearings from oil, the fix for a evo 4 is to put a evo 5 block in and use the new bearings, evo.s 1 to 3 cant have the 5 block as from 5 onwards the engine was put in the oppisite way around, but all evo,s from 1 to 9 have the same 4g63t engine in and thats why i can use evo 9 pistons and rods.. i also used the best main bearings i could buy ..full race bearings.. but it still cant stop carnkwalk

LOL you having a laugh mate? lol

I have had an Evo 5, 6 and now onto an 8 and also an FRST, ERST, and CTR EP3, and ANY SINGLE ONE of my evos would have pi55ed on any of the above cars lol

I had a 320BHP R33 GTR Skyline too, and my Evo 6 with 330 bhp was about 2 car lengths ahead of the Skyline (new owner tried it with me side by side) to about 80 mph.....

No CTR or anything the like would show an evo anything.

Quick Reply: EVO iv 's how fast?
