Motorway commuting speeds?

10K+ Poster!!
on my local motorways my van is usually one of the fastest things on the motorway and its limited to 70mph!
i can never understand why folks drive at 60 mph on the motorways!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
In the van i can quite happily sit at 55-60mph although the gradient of the road does play a part here, slow as fuck uphill, slow on flat and less slow (but still slow) downhill
In the car i'll sit at approx 75-80mph.
Can't be arsed getting caught again. Of course little bursts of speed appear every now and then. That's what got me caught before too

Sit at 70-80ish usually. The exhaust hits a loud note at 60 and it does your head in
The cars more comfortable at 80, but i keep getting stuck behind 56 in the outside lane people

In my mondeo diesel 78 mph as that's 2.5k revs and its where its most economical.
In the cos I ALWAYS seem to have to take it to between 110 and 140 just for the crack, then slow down to about 70-80 to save on fuel.

about 75, anymore in my derv and it gets a bit to noisy (and thirsty) and I like to chill out and listen to the radio.
Had years of commuting the same route to know that the difference between 70/75 and 85/90 is next to fuck all so not worth the hassle, honestly dont know why people bother as its no less boring than being sat at 75 anyway

I cant drive slowly for shit, drives me mad, as id save shitloads of fuel.
90-100 for me, dont wanna, but get bored and feel slow.
stupid thing is, as above, over the 50odd miles i drive each way, dont make much difference in time...
annoying thing too is the car does 50odd mpg cruising at 70, 30-35 at 90-100
wish i had more willpower...

I'm not being funny mojo but that does proper get on my tits when i see HGV's and other large vehicle trying to overtake something of the same class and blocking the right hand side lane.
Prime example me my bro and a few others went up to colchester on my birthday. Going down the A130 a lorry was trying to over take a coach it was still trying 2-3 minutes later then when we got to a bend because the coach was taking the inside line ended up pulling in front of the lorry anyway. Its only a two lane carriage way and blocked other cars from going the correct speed and overtaking quite easily. Needless to say he got flipped off and abused shouted at him bloody idiot!!!

If you can go faster you will, drivers didn't ask for speed limiters.

Especially if job and knock.
It's often dopey bollocks you're overtaking that's the cunt, get up to speed while you're going past, and won't let you in.
I always back off, let people get past, but a lot don't.
Why the older lorries were good, could key them and remove the limiter and do 70.

I'm just saying it ticks me off irrelevent of how long they've been doin it's just stupid espec when you can't go much faster. If you can however, go that much faster and can over take properly doit by all means but until then do not!!
Rant over!!!
i never usually go over the speed limit cos if i go over 70 in my 1.3 bad boy it starts making noise and sort of tells me to slow down itself

My regular 100 mile drive to work....(M27, A3, M25, A20 Portsmouth - London) I try to stick somewhere close to 80mph + or - 5mph............Need my licence for work and enjoyment, so can't risk much more.
Have gone faster, but only on roads I know very well.
But that's driving my diesel Peugeot..........Not the M5 ! ! !

Cruise 130 ish - run up to 168 whenever opportunities arise. (usually twice on the way to work and once on the way home as its busier.)
Every England trip I do before or after purchase of the M3 is at high ish speeds. I tend to start the stop watch and see how fast I can get there. 1 hr 55 from Leigh (just west of manchester) to Stirling. 59 mins Aberdeen to Dunblane. 3 hours 55 Maidenhead to Dunblane. There are other times but that is just a couple of examples. I get in the car and promise myself I wont cruise at more than 120 but all of a sudden it creeps up and up and the next thing its no lower than 130 is allowed and try for big bursts whenever possible.
Cheers

There is always this crazy feeling of invulnerability (or should that be immunity?) when driving abroad. Last trip was around Slovenia and Croatia in a Skoda Octavia. We wound it up on the road from Pula to Split (its a modern m'way that is practically empty of traffic) and just left it there at max speed all 450kms. It only got about 125mph but it was good enough to shorten the journey a tad.
Cheers
