Default Motorway commuting speeds?

I am interested to find out what sort of speeds people commute at up and down the motorways? I do the Manchester-London run once a week and average around 90-100 most of the way, i know i am breaking the speed limit but i was wondering what others whip it up to? Often people will over take me and cearly they are doing around 100+ but i was just wondering what sprt of speeds other people drive at?

I bearly go over 70-75 to be honest and occasionally hit 80 if i want to get past someone for a change of scenary for a few miles. Mainly due to the fact that it saves a good bit of fuel at that speed compared to 80-90.

On that road 80ish, but on others if clear up to 150, just for brief periods though, the fuel gauge goes down as fast as the speedo goes up!!

Around 75 in the company derv, just to save on fuel as it lowers my pence per mile that I pay back to the company. I normally knock on at a ton in my own car though.

I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that the average speed of the cars around me seems to be dropping...

DITTO

Before fuel went up over over the last few month I used to travel at 90+ in my ST but since the fuel price has gone up I have slowed down first to 80 and now to 70. Its alot less stressful as you just cruise along and it doesnt take much longer. Infact people doing 90+ often pass me and then I end up right behind them on the slip road so what have the achived??? I am using about a 3rd less on average. I am getting 30-32mpg with my revised driving style instead of 22-25mpg. Its less where and tear on my car its better for the enviroment and your pocket its a no brainer really.

70-75 occassionally hit 80mph, a trip out in the cossie or the 5 to say a show may hit a little higher occassionally, but not for long!

Usualy 70mph, some times 80mph! learnt my lesson back in the day when i got banned for 100mph+. Also on our local motorways those average speed camera's are cropping up all over the place, which tend to make you paranoid about your speed!.

70-80mph no point going any faster with the amount of traffic jams these days, even on a long journey your probably only going to save about 15minutes!

60-80mph.

Quit like sitting at 60mph on the way to work at 7:30am, chills me out a bit i rekon, less stressfull than pushing on at 90/100 like i probably could.

I tend to do between 60 and 70mph tbh. I hate being on the motorway as i hate hanging around, but as i've done 14,000 miles for work in the last 12 months I've found that sitting at 60-70mph isnt much slower than going faster. my trip computer on my vRS was showing at 46.4mpg after my recent trip to and from Luton last week, which for a 1.8 Petrol Turbo, I was quite pleased with.

Its less stressful too, and less tiring.

Perhaps im getting old, but even though I like fast cars, they arent the be all and end all.

You do know the speed limit for towing don't you? Friend of ours never stuck to it, got a bit of a brown pants moment when it decided to get a weave on!

So what some of you are saying is bin speed cameras as higher petrol prices have reduced your speed more effectively??

I never used to go over 100mph, but got done doing 98mph on the bumper of a Scooby in me Esc Cos. Now I rarely stray over 80mph

I'm the same quite often commuting from bedford to Manchester, Scotland..

Usually driving around london, m25 etc I stick to 80

But going up north the roads are empty less old bill and find myself doing 95 most of the way,

Did Luton to Edinburgh in 5hr 12m Last wednesday

do you try and over take other trucks who are doing 55.99999999 mph and it takes you 30 miles to pass it
