Baz - what is " boosting too soon " ?

My owners of turbo cars couldn't be happy if their car came on boost just above idle.

Some more circumstancial details would help.

Cheers

RW

sorry chaps will try again...

the turbo is over boosting - as in out of control etc.. she is reading 5 bar, previously it was at 1.5/2 bar.
when driving it there was a kicking back affect coming from the engine

we did a vacumn test on all the pipes - they were fine. the actuator is 6 months old (dont know if this is anything to do with it). we were thinking a faulty solenoid might be the problem - but we have no means of testing it etc.

what would be the common problems causing this

were told that we were lucky that we didnt blow the engine - then again this same chap is still to call and suss her out!

sounds possible - is it a small turbo escos with the Lektron valve?

the problem is that the wastegate is not opening for whatever reason. the actuator should open it, so could be a problem with that, but normally they give less boost rather than more - unless it or the wastegate is seized. if you put a pair of grips on the actuator rod, can you move it freely and open the wastegate? try also disconnecting the actuator rod and seeing if the wastegate rotates freely.

if all of that is working fine, it must be the boost control valve itself or the electrical supply to it.
