Firefox 3 in use here

It is a web browser. An alternative to Internet Explorer if you like.
I've been using Firefox for years - much better than IE. Everyone should use it IMO.
This new version does seem faster too.

if you had the version under 3.0 like the beta or something then no you wont see much difference, most of it is security stuff.

If you come from a really old version for some reason then you should see a difference

Does it support ActiveX?

That makes it fookin useless for me

It's what I'm using (old one) right now, on the Eeepc, but I don't like it...

It does anything that IE does.
Firefox just does it better

Less spyware, less adware, and so on

Been using firefox since the first release

Start/Programs
You will see your "internet explorer" listed there

RIGHT click on it, and "send to" > "desktop (create shortcut)".

Should work ok I think..

You are wrong, this is not correct - it does not do everything IE does with regards to ActiveX !!

Since ActiveX applies only to the Windows platform, it is unsuitable for Firefox which is available across multiple platforms. Currently, there is no mechanism by which you can use ActiveX controls in Firefox 2.0 or later.

Until recently, a third-party plugin provided ActiveX functionality for Firefox. The Mozilla ActiveX Plug-in provided partial ActiveX support for Firefox 1.5 and earlier versions. By default, these ActiveX plugins were configured to execute only the two Windows Media Player ActiveX controls, which enabled the playback of video content through the Windows controls. There is a configuration file that can be used to enable other ActiveX controls. For details, see Adam Lock's site.
The plugins for Netscape, Mozilla Suite, and Mozilla Firefox were created by Adam Lock and are maintained on his site, which has not been updates since 2005. These plugins do not work with Firefox 2.0 or later.

http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm

Also being closed source its very unlikely that ActiveX functionality will ever become available on the Linux distro being run on the eeec pc being used in this instance

Theres a couple of things for me, one is the way you put all your favorite bookmarks in the top task bar so you dont need to click on "favorites" and look on a separate menu. Number 2 the extensions, you can add loads of extra stuff like gmail notifier, it sits on one of the bars and tells you when and if you have new email, without opening any site.
oh and if your pc crashes or you have a powercut and you have a webpage open, when you next restart the pc it will offer you to resume from where you left off................... i could keep going

I've been using it since it was called 'Firebird'.
Sod knows why they wanted to rename it after an old Clint Eastwood film.

By far the best browser and I've tried most.
I even tried Safari for the PC the other day, free from Crapple.
It was shite so I went back to good old Moz.

IE7 is very good - but thats only because they've finally caught up with Firefox.

There's lots of add-ons for firefox such has image zoom , forcastfox , speak it etc

thousands of skins and tweaks to make it even faster it does look abit boring when you first download it but you can turn it into anything you like

on your Linux i would always personally run the optimized builds of Firefox which are faster than standard

http://getswiftfox.com

only other thing I can say is better is the interface and thats a matter of opinion, in general most browsers have all the nice features like tabbed browsing these days.
